9. Only 9. Harry Kane scored a hat-trick of penalties too… just off a change.

They’ll be buzzing for the game. As fans though, we’re going to have a massive role in creating an amazing atmosphere and intimidating them.

I believe.

With the league now taking shape, Villa v Bayern is a 6 pointer.

I don't sweat those chumps, they've never scored against us let alone won.

It's a mouthwatering top of the table clash. No wonder it sold out so quickly.

I see no reason we can't get 14-15 points here, which should get us top 8.

As I posted a few weeks ago a maths nerd modelled it out and had it as 17 to get into the top 8 and 8 to get into the playoff. They'd done it based entirely on the design of the draw (with each team playing 2 from each pot) rather than any weighting on the quality of the teams but I think it looked fair. I can't remember where I saw it though and it was some random blog that I can't seem to find now.

TBH, I had similar figures and I'm not a maths nerd. Just quick working of averages points to get second and third last season and added on 2 for the extra games.

If we can beat Bologna and Celtic, we're probably into the Knockout Round. 9 points should be enough.

10 points away and 7-8 at home might just be enough for top 8.

I don't want to get ahead of myself, but we're well capable of getting something from all our matches. We know all about Kane and Olise at Bayern, and Emery is a much better coach than Kompany. We proved last season with the effortless dismantling of Man City at home that on our day, we're more than a match for anybody.

The next game vs versus the Belgian Pulis and Aaron Danks will tell us a lot. Win that or even a solid point and we can start to really think about automatic qualification vs knockout. The rest of the games shouldn’t be as hard although Juve certainly won’t be easy.

100% agree. We should fear nobody.
