Ugarte is a good signing, the rest I don't care about, but they are improving their squad and will be targeting our place from last season.
I can't loan out Barra, Unai was praising him highly last week, but then he didn't make the squad.  I hope we get the Dutch lad over the line, as i think Ned needs more time.  I think we'll be done then unless Duran goes.

I think that will be only signing too. I think not replacing diaby is going to be a big mistake

I don't disagree!  Duran to Chelsea back in the gossip column again today, if he does go (and I'm ambivalent, I thought his leading of the line on Saturday was poor when he came on) I hope it's not too late that we can do something in the market still.

I dont think duran would be sold this late in window. My assumption is next summer if he continues with the childish tantrums emery will cut his ties with him. January we do not tend to do much business.

Just think we desperately need a diaby type.  A injury to bailey and i think we are in trouble.

Surely Philogene is the backup to Bailey.

The problem for Man Utd and Chelsea and ourselves is that when you have good players for most positions it’s hard to sign players to improve you. All the variables about whether a player fits in to the league, right combination of egos and personalities can make formerly great players average.

Man U for example, McGuire cost a lot of money and played a lot of games at the top of the premier league because he’s quite good. Overpaid because proven players  at premier league cost a lot. Turns out he’s not good enough to improve on the top 6 kind of level they’re at. They signed Varane to improve their defence. Lot of money again, lot of pedigree, peak age. Turned out he was worse. Two players whose value has plummeted, presumably cost a lid in wages as well as fees and didn’t improve them at all.

And once the players who have been dropped are big name big reputation players on big money you have problems.
Yep, agree totally and it's why I'm not really 'for' us trying to get marquee signings - cos they're only ever going to at best meet expectations, and if they don't do that (which inevitably some will) then you're lumbered with an expensive player on superstar wages that no other club will touch with a bargepole (e.g. Harry Maguire) as, whilst they're still good players, they're "top half of the Premier League" good rather than "top 1 of the Premier League" good.

He will be - but big shoes for him to fill tbh

I think we are short in attack

Meant to be but thought he looked very light at West Ham. Going to take time before he is ready for PL football. Id be moving McGinn over there for Leicester in any case and getting Ramsey on the left. Diaby at his best was quick and direct, Rogers has other strengths but teams might be able to push up on us.

I completely agree that we are a player light in attack.... But.....

I always think this at the end of the window, and invariably it's not actually the end of the world to get to Jan. I know we have a lot of games, but if Bailey is out for example, we could see a box midfield and Duran start some games off Ollie. Point being, we've got some options, especially in moving parts around in midfield.

Morgan's emergence and Philogene's return are to cover Diaby I think. It's the UEFA PSR that is hampering us there.

I'd be more open to Durán leaving because a replacement could be more versatile - i.e the ability to play up top, or maybe as a ten/on the right.

I wouldnt want rogers covering anywhere else than his current role as he is so good there and causes havoc tbh.

He played up top a couple times in pre season and didnt look good there

The number 10 has to be the right player, and if we can't get him now then I'd rather we keep our powder dry until we can get the right one and in the meantime, continue developing Rogers. Bailey, Buendia and McGinn can play there as cover. In fact, once Kamara's back, we could play Tielemans there too.

You can't afford to sign players for the sake of it anymore. Dendoncker's an example of why that's a costly mistake.

Yes, we have cover in every position although I think we need to upgrade RB and CB.

If, IF, Duran goes then it will only be on the basis we have someone lined up.

If we can get defensive cover in, I can see Kosta going on loan. If the club thinks that Kamara is relatively close to a return then Enzo will go on loan too. It's not a reflection on their abilities but an opportunity to continue their development, which they won't get sat in the stands.

But we'll need to shift Duran & Carlos for any serious incomings to take place. Personally It don't see that happening now. Maybe a loan or two.

I agree, we need another forward. That top quality player who can play anywhere across the front. Watkins, Bailey and Rogers are a quality three whilst fully fit and in form but even with that in mind they're not playing every match. Although the 3 backs up's are potentially good, Buendia is coming back from a year our, Philogene is not used to level we're now at and Duran is stroppy. One top player to rotate with the main 3 would make all the difference.

Villa interested in Chelsea's Jackson
Aston Villa are interested in a move for Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson before the transfer window closes, according to CaughtOffside.

The 23-year-old is reportedly one of the main targets for the Villans, who are still looking to sign a forward before Friday's deadline and have watched Jackson for "more than a year".
