What a bunch of bedwetters we have on here. Villa are top4. We were top4 last season. We will be top4 this season and top4 next season. If our own fanbase don't believe it how can we moan when the national press/social media ignore us. Get some backbone some of you. We've got the best manager (bar none) in the world. The best goalkeeper in the world. A squad full of international players and some future England stars to back it all up. Be loud and be proud.
It s possible to proud and realistic an even pessimistic at the same time :)

I get your points some valid- but i just dont see this team finishing top 4 again.

I don’t see us getting 4th either.  For that to happen, based on their spending power, we need three of Man City, Liverpool, arsenal, Man U, Chelsea and Spurs to fuck up and that wont happen very often.  A few more seasons of European football and that gap will close and it’s important that Europa isn’t seen as failing in my opinion.

Yeah im trying to stay positive but i dont think the squads strong enough to compete this year. Just hope if we dont get CL our key players wamt to stay and dont want to move to anothed CL club were that to happen.

I think if 5th gets CL we have a chance at that but when i look at the calibre of signings manure are making they do look impressive.  If they get ugarte thats going to be some signing

We’ve played one game of this season, maybe a little soon to be worrying about the next one.

Just enjoy the ride…not sure many would have considered top 4 this time last year.  Agree that it will be tougher because we won’t be under estimated like we were for a lot of last season BUT unlike the likes or ManUre or the comedy merchants from the Kings Road we actually play as a team and we’ll see new strengths and weaknesses as the season goes on.

Bring on Arsenal…bring on Champions League…& for gods sake just win that damn FA Cup

We lost Mings and Buendia in the first week of the new season last year. Moreno missed most of the start and never really regained form. Ramsey never got going with his broken metatarsal not healing. And we lost Kamara for the run-in.

We had our first season in a long time playing 50+ games and playing Saturday/Thursday/Sunday, which the likes of Wolves and West Ham struggled with, and many people said we would struggle with that.

And we still finished 4th.

We have 2 genuine options for every position this year. And some are arguing that we're not stronger? Bat shit.

I would say today's game will be a big indicator of where we're going this season and of course it is significant but we don't know yet how the Champions League will affect the squad. So that's a big unknown. But from what I can see for all the complaints about squad depth it seems to me to we've improved pretty bigly on that metric. And we still have Kamara and Mings to come back.

The squad is better, and from the West Ham game the team looks more balanced.  If we could sign a genuinely great  creative midfielder I'd fancy us to do something outrageous (and I don't mean the FA Cup).

I don’t see how we can predict this season, we have been achieving above all expectations.
Our manager will be looking to improve on last season and I would not be surprised if he does.

Absent
Absolutely. We’ve got the sort of manager who is more than capable of winning any trophy, including the European Cup. We’ve got the best goalkeeper in the world bar none.

I’m optimistic. Very optimistic.

Omorodion has joined Porto for 12.5m so he's off the list should Duran be sold this week. Hopefully that is all put to bed now though.

I'm not sure we would ever or be allowed by the PL to structure a deal in the way Porto have. They only bought 50% of his rights, the agreement included the possibility of purchasing, if desired, for an additional 10 million euros another 30% of the rights economic benefits, in two tranches of 15% and 5 million euros each, to be exercised in July 2025 and July 2026.

There is no JPB. Do people not read the team list? Squad list? Match reports? Other posts or threads? Look at his shirt even? Listen to interviews? Match commentary? Read articles on the press?

I think it’s wilful ignorance.
