How about Trippier on loan to cover season in Champs league ? He has great experience and knows a bit of Spanish and can add quality for set pieces .
I only would take a loan though not permanent

Not a terrible idea, but I'm guessing he'd be third choice at both left-back and right-back, and he'd probably only be moving from Newcastle to play. No point swapping ten minutes at the end of matches there for the same here.
Actually you’re quite right there on point about Trippier.
Dave on upon further research having said he wanted to leave Trippier wants first team football.
I guess he wouldn’t be guaranteed every match at 33 and wages perhaps it’s not a move Emery would take on.

Who's the actual back up for Bailey who will miss games with knocks?

Philogene & Buendia.

At a push, Rogers or McGinn.

Are we taking the latter two out of other positions? And are these the only potential options?

We wont know until the end of the window...

Rogers best games last year were coming in off the left so he goes that side if Ramsey picks up another injury.

Buendia coming off a year out and I think he'll be more a sub to press centrally late on in games.

We don't want to be playing players on the right "at a push" v strong CL teams so I'd say a team having Bailey first choice and Sterling ready to come in is what a club trying to be competitive in CL and have another strong season in the prem needs to have.

Basically Sterling would be a replacement for Diaby who filled in for Bailey on occasions last year when injuries hit.

No reputable links to sterling then?
Agbonlahor may be ITK as still has links here’s his take on Sterling:

Again, Steinberg isn't one usually to just make shit up or put his name on a report based on Twitter rumours. He could be wrong, but it's pretty unusual for someone like him and Romano to be at odds. We shall see.

He doesn't make things up and is well connected at Chelsea. But he's giving the "Chelsea wishlist view", i.e., Chelsea would fancy us taking Sterling off their hands.

And if we're very nice, they might deign to sign Duran...

I reckon as things stand (and assuming no more loans out and I haven't missed someone really obvious), we have 24 of a 25 man squad.

Quote
Emi
Olsen
Gauci

Cash
Konsa
DC
Mings
Pau
Digne
Maatsen
Kosta

Barkley
Onana
McGinn
Tielemans
Barrenechea
Iling-Junior
Ramsey
Kamara
Buendia

Watkins
Duran
Bailey
Rogers

And looking at how it's balanced, it feels to me that the 25th spot would probably be a defender, and if SIJ goes out on loan then he's replaced by an attacker. And then we'd be done.
Ned is not on that list.
Yes, he is (Kosta).
I-J is rumoured to be being loaned out ...

I suspect most forwards have plenty of those.

Yep Chelsea moving hell and high water to get their surplus shifted. It’s OK being offered players, it completely different us actually wanting them. I trust Fab on this

Dendoncker is still here I think?

He is, but I'd be surprised if he ended up in our 25 player squad.

Assuming we don't have to add the kids in there Bogarde and Bidace?

I must admit, I haven’t really noticed Stirling in the last year or so. But for a while, when at Man City, he was one of the top 2 or 3 valued players in fantasy football for a good few years. He was in the Salah, Kane bracket. He must have been world class in that period. Even if he’s not any more. To say he’s never been any good seems a bit odd.

Philogene does actually. Bogarde doesn't.

May as well drop Watkins for the number of assists Sterling would give him. Let Sterling go to Arsenal, the club where strikers go to die.
