I reckon as things stand (and assuming no more loans out and I haven't missed someone really obvious), we have 24 of a 25 man squad.

Quote
Emi
Olsen
Gauci

Cash
Konsa
DC
Mings
Pau
Digne
Maatsen
Kosta

Barkley
Onana
McGinn
Tielemans
Barrenechea
Iling-Junior
Ramsey
Kamara
Buendia

Watkins
Duran
Bailey
Rogers

And looking at how it's balanced, it feels to me that the 25th spot would probably be a defender, and if SIJ goes out on loan then he's replaced by an attacker. And then we'd be done.

Ned is not on that list.

I think that's correct for the Premier League squad, but he would need to be named in the 25 for the Champions League (if we wanted him in it), where young players also have to have spent a certain amount of time with the club.

Not 1 reliable source has said we are in for him.

Must say this has a whiff of it getting media coverage based on the snowball effect of one twitter opinion.

I just cant see it being a deal UE would want to do.

Again, Steinberg isn't one usually to just make shit up or put his name on a report based on Twitter rumours. He could be wrong, but it's pretty unusual for someone like him and Romano to be at odds. We shall see.

Wasn’t it Steinberg who announced the day before the FA Cup final that ETH was definitely going to be sacked, even if they won the final?

I'd rather have Zaha on loan for the season than Sterling, just think he would be better in the 10 role to replace Diaby.

Unlikely, he's the Graun's Chelsea reporter (who also does a bit of West Ham as he's a fan).

He's got a 'Steve Bruce' face, it looks like it's going to consume itself given time.

Who's the actual back up for Bailey who will miss games with knocks?

Philogene & Buendia.

At a push, Rogers or McGinn.

Are we taking the latter two out of other positions? And are these the only potential options?

We wont know until the end of the window...

Rogers best games last year were coming in off the left so he goes that side if Ramsey picks up another injury.

Buendia coming off a year out and I think he'll be more a sub to press centrally late on in games.

We don't want to be playing players on the right "at a push" v strong CL teams so I'd say a team having Bailey first choice and Sterling ready to come in is what a club trying to be competitive in CL and have another strong season in the prem needs to have.

Basically Sterling would be a replacement for Diaby who filled in for Bailey on occasions last year when injuries hit.

I'm not sure that Buendia is going to get much of a look in this year, being brutally honest.

If Arsenal does not go disastrously wrong I think Villa are going to stick.

How about Trippier on loan to cover season in Champs league ? He has great experience and knows a bit of Spanish and can add quality for set pieces .
I only would take a loan though not permanent

I still think there is a big drop off if Bailey gets injured. I’m also slightly concerned that there’s quite a bit of reliance on Mings coming back and getting up to speed. We are light at centre half even if DC stays.

Not a terrible idea, but I'm guessing he'd be third choice at both left-back and right-back, and he'd probably only be moving from Newcastle to play. No point swapping ten minutes at the end of matches there for the same here.
