I don't like how quiet it's gone...
I've grown accustomed to us doing 99% of our transfer business right when the window opens, then either nothing for the rest of it, or maybe picking up the odd player from clubs who haven't got their shit sorted out as well as we have.

I rather like it.

Sure but that doesn't address the fact we have a gaping hole at centre half and in attack though

We don't have gaping holes though, we have a couple of people in the squad in Carlos and Duran who don't quite fit the holes they're occupying as well as we'd like but that's not the same thing.

Hard disagree I'm afraid, the defence for the most part was poor when carlos played, a couple of decent performances aside.
And the idea that duran can do anything more than play 10-15 minutes here and there, and that his attitude is right is fanciful.

Maybe we need to shift them before any incoming but the lack of quality and consistent back up or alternative to ollie is going to bite us on the arse eventually

That changes nothing though and you clearly see that with your last line, which was my point. The squad is full (actually it's a bit too big right now) so we need to start creating space for new players. I have no doubt that the plans are in place to bring people in once we can but outgoings are the priority.

If I were a betting man my money would be on 4-5 out (excluding kids going on loan) and 2 in by the end of the window. I also think 1 of those 2 will be Felix.

He's just sucking up to a new club, all players do it. I bet 90% would come out with the phrase 'If Juve come knocking...'. They will be seen as a bigger club than us by most of the world.

Really? He's not said anything disparaging about us at all, or behaved badly?

He left at the 3rd time of wanting to. Fuck any player that doesn't want to play for CL Villa under Emery. He's a bigger twat than most other players that couldn't wait to leave over the last decade, at least they usually had the excuse that we were shit and generally had shit managers so were going nowhere but backwards.

Yes he couldn't wait to get away. He was hoping for Arsenal when he pushed for a transfer this time but they didn't come  so he took the next best thing  when Juve turned up. He can fuck off.

The Felix thing is a confusing conundrum
I think we can take it that Unai likes the player and wants to bring him to Villa, so you would have thought that if Felix didn’t really want to come we would have moved on by now
They must be getting some favourable feedback if we are still in the chase as reportedly we are

I think there's probably a lot of truth in us holding out on what we're prepared to pay, knowing full well AM could be left with an expensive asset on their hands if they cant move him on - and there doesn't seem to be much competition for his signature.

Doesn't exactly say anything nice about his experience though, or thank his team mates and Emery. Bollocks to him, he was rubbish for the last four months anyway and his shit penalty possibly cost us a trophy.

Yeah fuck him, he can tell his grandkids he played for probably the biggest bunch of cheating bastards world football has ever known.

De-wup-de-do.

Surely telling all ex-players to fuck off is an important right for all football fans?

He wanted to leave when we were managed by Gerrard, but stayed and served us well. I don't really have any malice for the manner of his departure. However, Juventus are possibly the biggest twats in world football so I hope he scores seven own goals every game and they go down to the Piedmont North Circular Relegation League 3.

I couldn’t care less what he said or what he didn’t say. The time has long gone when players felt any loyalty to clubs and that’s just the way it is. Luiz did well for us and got well paid for doing so.
He’s no longer a player at Aston Villa so my interest in him or any other player that moves on is zero.

He did that when he left though. Given how fans react if a players keeps pining after their former club it feels like that's probably the right way to go. Unless/Until we play each other and then I'd expect comments from him, SIJ and Baron.

Seems fair enough to me, he's played in Brazil, England, Spain and wants a crack at Italy, and to do it at their biggest club.

Its standard fare isn't it, even the poor saps who have to sign for SHA have to stick to the script and big them up a bit.
