I think he was the obvious one, but Ramsey was also a potential sale, as was Diaby.

Gut feeling is that Ramsey wouldn't want to go, Luiz did want to go and Diaby was ok either way. So we sold the last two.

Time will tell whether we can replace Luiz, but I trust Emery to be the best at finding a way. What doesn't help is not having Kamara, though there are some good signs, with young and hungry players.

Birighton and WHAM interested in Mats Hummels according to Beeb - would he be worth a season or to (he is 35 now) to bring calm and CL experience to our back line if we shipped out Diego?  Or too old for the high line?

I think Diaby couldn't wait to get out of the door, and being honest looked like he'd wished he'd gone to Saudi Arabia last year instead.

He seems to be a pretty disruptive influence.

That’s normally a good sign

With the size of the squad I doubt we'll bring any more in until someone goes.

Surely one of Moreno or Digne needs to be moved on?

But for that to happen we need a buyer. Same goes with Carlos.

Duran move falling through seems to have put the brakes on our spending

I've grown accustomed to us doing 99% of our transfer business right when the window opens, then either nothing for the rest of it, or maybe picking up the odd player from clubs who haven't got their shit sorted out as well as we have.

I rather like it.

Yeah, we tend to have a plan and have looked at different permutations. We get it done and then wait for something on our list we can react to, like someone coming in for a player or a player we want becoming unexpectedly available.

It's elite level, really.

We can do a loan swap with Zaha

That is a joke by the way :-)
