I wonder were we really ever in for Alvarez before he joined Citeh and there were heavy links with us.

He's always looked very good to me, and would almost certainly be a first choice at every other Premier League club.

He definitely would. That's a very large sum of money, but he's a very very good player.

Going back to his time at River Plate, I loved him and thought he'd be ideal for us. File under: the one I got right. That said, €75m + add-ons is a lot of money.
