Has anyone seen anything reputable on the Diaby front?

As far as I can tell, everything has come from one Italian journalist?

Is he the only guy who knows what’s happening with a French player at an English club being courted by a team in Saudi Arabia?

I think with Jaden coming back, people are putting two and two together and thinking Diaby must be off. It's possible he might not have settled i suppose but i reckon he'll still be here next season.

Numbers wise, how are we looking?

I make it Dougie, Chambers, Kellyman, Iroegbunam, Zaniolo and Lenglet (I assume) have left. So that's 6 out.

Then it's Enzo, Iling-Junior, Dobbin, Barkley, Philogene and I guess Archer, back in. So that's 6 in. 7 if we count the Serbian lad, who I guess is a new addition as he wasn't in the squad last season.

So basically with all the comings and goings we're not any better off in terms of numbers, but hopefully a bit better off in terms of having actual depth?

I suppose with, hopefully, Mings, Buendia, and Ramsey being fit and healthy, we are kind of at +3 numbers wise.

Tielemans
Barkley
Enzo

Kamara
Dendonker

Rogers
Ramsey
Iling-Junior
Buendia

Very subjective I know, but have we improved the squad, rather than widened it?  The outgoing players were never going to play for us.  Add Coutinho and O'Reilly to that list too.  We still need another couple of quality signings and I'm sure they are on their way.  It looks like Unai is giving us height and pace, I am sure he will also be looking as sharpening us up defensively too.   Adding Maatsen too of course.

We’re giving up on Dobbin early. In fairness I had forgotten about him!

Also remember that there are a good few there that don't need to be named in the league squad.

Pretty much agree with you Steve. Hoping that what an alleged ITK said on here (that Mings is fully fit) is correct.

As I’ve said many times, I’m hoping Olsen. Cash, Carlos, Dendonker and Duran are replaced by players in the same position, and that will do us I reckon. In which case we could probably do with the Duran + Diaby + Cash + Carlos money to stay compliant.

When you look at the list of wide attacking midfielders you can see why Diaby may be allowed to go. We are well over stocked there now. I do wonder if Dobbin has been signed as a striker more than a winger though. There needs to be 4-5 outs coming soon to allow a final 1-2 quality Ins. Ideally a right back and a top drawer centre mid.

Philogene is being brought back as cover or an alternative for Bailey, who's the only out & out winger in the squad. He'll get plenty of opportunities to play next season.

Rogers is also perhaps going to end up in a more central striking position; maybe not during next season.
