I reckon we have two big hitters coming in.  Baena and Onana.  Possibly a centre back too.

Not sure we need Onana but I’ve not seen enough of him to be honest - he’s a bit in and out the Everton team isn’t he?
Baena would be exciting. Definitely need a RCB.

Unai would improve Onana, although there may be better players out there.  I was wondering if we need someone who knows the strength and pace of the division.   We lack physicality, still. Barrenechea will be adjusting to the new league, Barkley isn't that type of player.  Until Kamara is back, we will need a bit more oomph in front of the defence because we were leaky after Christmas in particular.  You are most certainly right about the RCB too.

Philogene back?

Diaby off to Saudi for €70m?  That would give us a €20m (£17.8m) profit in 12 months (less and element of the agreed €10m add-ons that were liable for).

Philogene for Diaby is, imo good business - adding €20m to Diaby’s value in 12 months is excellent work.

And another bonus - Philogene's UEFA qualified

Be a huge risk to assume JPB can match the output of Diaby all to boost the coffers unless there’s a big 1-2 coming in.
JPB in a quality line up is a mouthwatering prospect . Can he replicate Diaby's infamous air shots though !? The one draw back he does not have the blistering pace of Diaby which is his real weapon .

Yes Diaby’s terrible return of 19 goals/assists in 52 games is awful.

If Philogene is back that’s nice, if it’s replacing Diaby it’s a very risky call.

Re Diaby - I would be gutted if he left. Simply because it’ll be like the “one who got away”

His performances last season were sometimes a little rough around the edges, but there is a talent there. And I really wanted to see how he’d do next season - as per Bailey who became a stalwart for us in his 2nd season.

But money talks. If he wants to go to Jeddah, fair play to him. I wouldn’t personally, but if we can make a profit and buy two world class players for that money, then it’s a deal.

But it wouldn’t stop me from thinking “what could have been” with Diaby in the CL.

We must have some kind of plan to replace Kamara. Dougie filled in there, not that well and he’s gone. I can’t see anyone else in the squad so far to play that role.

Is that the 'Enzo' klaxon I hear going off?

Has anyone seen anything reputable on the Diaby front?

As far as I can tell, everything has come from one Italian journalist?

Is he the only guy who knows what’s happening with a French player at an English club being courted by a team in Saudi Arabia?

I don’t think for a second we actually want to sell Diaby, but if some club offers close to £70m for him he’ll be gone. We have Jaden back to deputize Bailey and a few options on the left. Reinvest through the spine of the team on starters and solid squad players plus address FFP.

It should be, at his age and with his experience he should be wel lcapable of stepping in. I wouldn't be against signing someone else on loan or an older player on a short contract but I don't think it's a good idea to spend big one someone in there.

To be honest I know nothing about him, but you reckon that he’s good enough to step in Paul?

We need a top quality Kamara back up. Such a critical role with the way we play out.

It would be useful to sign a RCB who can play as a DM when needed. That would cover for Kamara's absence and then offer competition to Konsa once he's back. Tricky to find someone with that profile at the level we need but would be worth the investment if we could find that.

I'd agree with that idea if it was anywhere else he was supposedly going. It doesn't matter how well he'd play, he's not going to look like "one who got away" while playing in the Saudi league.
