Yeah a lot of personal terms agreed happens in advance of a fee being agreed between clubs. The agents can't wait to get their noses in the trough when told of external interest in their client.

Re Diaby being sulky last season. Only a small thing, but he almost always tweeted after a game, and was very respectful to the Villa fans in each one. Easy to do but many of them don't.

19 goals and assists. 25. Loads of potential. Sell him for £5m profit? Why?

The fact you have Coopers Injury trolling on this for months should be enough to convince you of what a stupid idea it is to recycle talented players as if they're as readily available as Tesco meal deal.

That's a strong case to but forward in fairness.

The guy has bundles of talent. Stay and he will go on to do well for us. His performances dipped, probably to do with being asked to play slightly differently than he was used to. I just don't understand why people want to move players on so quickly. It happens all the time for our club. Luiz, Watkins, McGinn, Bailey, Digne, Cash, have all been deemed shit and surplus to requirements but have all produced some fabulous stuff for us over the past few years, because the manager has worked with them and given them a chance. Diaby has shown it before, and the stats Ads produced weren't matched by many players across the league last season.

I don't want him gone at all, but I'm comfortable with him going if the club felt like cashing in the chips and trying something else.

You've just articulated it perfectly.

It would be utterly ridiculous to sell Diaby for £51M when his numbers last year were excellent for a player adapting to a new league.

So this has to be bullshit, because there is no way that we sell for such a small profit.

I think this is just a regurgitation of last years story, but change the club to make it seem relevant.

It all seems to be a hypothetical discussion about a story where he's agreed terms. If you've got an unhappy player who would prefer to prioritise earnings potential over professional development, then I can see the argument for selling him and getting someone like Baena in.

Of course, it's just as possible that it's nonsense and he's looking forward to his second season with us and is integral to our plans.

Anything north of £55M and I would personally drive him to Jeddah or Riyadh
