I was under the impression that the FA or Premier League have to ratify the values of all player deals anyway?

The idiots moaning are ones who assume we are buying players we don’t need at inflated prices to cheat the system.

We bought Duran for £19m and he’d never played over here before, yet people now think Kellyman should be worth less?

Douglas Luiz is certainly not being sold at an inflated price.

People are just dicks. As always.

Duran was £14.75m. Can people just remember this to save me from posting it?

There were add-ons, of which none of us know what has or hasn’t been triggered, so potentially we’ve paid up to £18m.

They still don't feel quite right to me. I'm not saying that they're massively out of whack, but my gut feeling is just that if this wasn't an obvious bit of back-scratching to make everyone's books look happy for July 1st, we wouldn't have agreed an €11m fee for Iling-Junior with Juventus and a £19m fee for Kellyman with Chelsea at this particular time in the summer as part of our regular summer transfer business.

To stress, I have no issue with it. It seems to be within the rules, so crack on.

I guess there is still a very slim chance that us, Everton and Chelsea have no PSR concerns and the Dobbin - Iroegbunam - Kellyman - Maatsen situation is just a fascinating coincidence that happened to play out a week before the end of the football financial year. But if it *is* nothing to do with that we've all done a very good job of making it look like it is.

Which, to repeat, I am completely fine with.

Clearly all these deals are happening because of FFP/PSR but my question was around the figures being manipulated, I don't think any of prices are silly and I think looking at each transfer individually they all fit with the clubs.

I think, with no FFP, none of these transfers happen but not because the team they're going to wouldn't be interested and, for me, that's the important bit that turns these into transfers of convenience rather than manufactured bullshit to dodge the rules, for me.

I cannot imagine Villa not playing by the rules. But there is no doubt PSR has loopholes and it has forced us to be creative to comply with them. I still don’t know how club debt doesn’t apply as part of the rules applied to capping spending limits.

I’m happy that Kellyman has gone for £19m but anyone who thinks that’s not a vastly inflated price for a player who has shown zero in league or cup games needs their heads looked at.

The Chucky price was huge for a player with only potential to go on and achieve something in open age after showing that he was the best in under age categories but Kellyman hasn’t even got that to justify the fee.

Great work by Villa and it’s good that we’re working the system to our advantage.

Thankfully we now live in the real world, unless you support the mob down the road

Given he's barely been here five minutes, I can't imagine half the milestones to trigger the clauses have yet been met.

We qualified for Europe, then we qualified for the Champions League. Maybe depends if clauses are player or club-specific. Maybe a bit of both?

The point is that the fee we actually paid can be anywhere between £14.75m and £18m, and not one of us actually knows.

And that’s if the reports in the press were accurate too.

He’s practically a third of the way through his contract, has made 49 appearances for us, played in europe, scored for us, been called up for his national team, and we have qualified for two european competitions, including the Champions League.

All those are things used to trigger add-ons, so the likelihood of having not triggered any I would think is pretty low.

I'd be surprised if at least one clause hasn't been triggered.

To be honest, i dont think too many people on here would have valued Kellyman at £19m. It suprised me.

It doesn't surprise me. He is very highly rated by a lot of people.

Emery seemed to like him too as before his season ending injury, he was always in & around the first team from when he was 17/18...

Honestly thought he didn't look anywhere near ready in the games he featured in last season.  A good pre season this summer around the senior squad might have changed that of course.

I'm sure he's triggered some but his actual playing time/number of starts has been minimal so i doubt it's the full whack either.

Just watched USA defeat Bolivia. Christian Pulicic is such a good player. Still only 25. Fast, smart, scores some very good goals. A player I’d love to see us buy.

Another whose careers stalled at Chelsea, not helped by injuries though.
Agree a really excellent player when fit.

Amazed to read he's only 25. I'd have guessed 30+.
