I was under the impression that the FA or Premier League have to ratify the values of all player deals anyway?

The idiots moaning are ones who assume we are buying players we don’t need at inflated prices to cheat the system.

We bought Duran for £19m and he’d never played over here before, yet people now think Kellyman should be worth less?

Douglas Luiz is certainly not being sold at an inflated price.

People are just dicks. As always.

Duran was £14.75m. Can people just remember this to save me from posting it?

The Sky 6 should be renamed the Entitled 6. We are (hopefully) not doing anything illegal and the usual suspects are just pissed off that we are breaking their monopoly - their tears are delicious. I think the big difference this time is that we trust our management to execute this strategy to perfection. More power to us.

They're crying because we're complying by the rules, but not in the way they'd like. Namely we're not selling Martinez, Watkins, Bailey etc, at discounted rates, to them, the Red Cartel.

The Red Cartel who've been put in the shade by Man City for years and now face upstart Newcastle and Aston Villa parking tanks on their turf.

That we're selling one of our best players out the league to comply, that we're selling youth prospects to comply is just not fair on the Arsenals, Man Uniteds and Liverpools.

A lot of media types were running with the story that we'd be forced to sell one of our big names this summer. They were going with JJ because of the homegrown element, and then Dougie, presumably because there had been interest in him the last few windows. I'm sure there were some people absolutely salivating at the idea of us not being able to progress past this season's achievements. The fact we've seemingly sold Dougie, by choice (mostly), sign a highly rated young defender, bring in some cash ourselves, while still currently holding onto the rest of the starting 11-15/6 of last season, and it's not even July yet, is definitely pissing on some people's chips.

No doubt they're furious we didn't sell Dougie to Arsenal.

I'm not getting the fuss here. We are selling players in order to buy players yes? If someone wants to pay £19m for a kid with no experience then why is that our fault?
But we are exchanging players aren't we and it's the way the figures are being manipulated in the deal which is in question i guess. If the rules allow it then fine crack on.

How are the figures being manipulated?

If it's true that we're getting £19m for Kellyman and paying €11m for Iling-Junior then those don't feel *quite* right based on what each have achieved.

I'm not complaining and I don't think we're doing anything wrong - but they seem a bit off-kilter.

Is that 'figures being manipu8lated' or just a reflecteion of the fact that we don't want to sell Kellyman and Juventus really want us to accept Iling-Junior to save them some cash?

Slightly odd valuations like that have been part of the sport for decades and I find it a bit odd that any Villa fan would have a problem with us getting the most we can on sales and keeping the costs for incomings down.

If Kellyman hadn't been around the first team squad a lot last season I'd accept it looked a bit suspect but 10months ago it looked like he might have a big part to play and Emery clearly rated him. The fees for Bogarde and Iroegbunam look reasonable as well.

To be honest, i dont think too many people on here would have valued Kellyman at £19m. It suprised me.

Given the prices we got for Archer and Ramsey last summer, and how they had both had good loan spells, it is a surprising figure.

It’s in line with what was paid for Chukuemeka two years ago.  Similar ages, similar style, similar number of first team minutes, similar success at youth levels.

I don’t think omari is worth £19m, but I didn’t think Chuck Jnr was worth £20m either. The market decided they both were

Go back another year though and it's comparable to what we got fo Chuk. It's a good fee for us but not enough to make it look dodgy.

Both fair points. I think the fact it's Chelsea helps our case too. They have a history of paying silly prices for players.

They still don't feel quite right to me. I'm not saying that they're massively out of whack, but my gut feeling is just that if this wasn't an obvious bit of back-scratching to make everyone's books look happy for July 1st, we wouldn't have agreed an €11m fee for Iling-Junior with Juventus and a £19m fee for Kellyman with Chelsea at this particular time in the summer as part of our regular summer transfer business.

To stress, I have no issue with it. It seems to be within the rules, so crack on.

I guess there is still a very slim chance that us, Everton and Chelsea have no PSR concerns and the Dobbin - Iroegbunam - Kellyman - Maatsen situation is just a fascinating coincidence that happened to play out a week before the end of the football financial year. But if it *is* nothing to do with that we've all done a very good job of making it look like it is.

Which, to repeat, I am completely fine with.

It doesn't surprise me. He is very highly rated by a lot of people.

Emery seemed to like him too as before his season ending injury, he was always in & around the first team from when he was 17/18...

Dave's right. It just so happens that buying and selling players on the open market also assists us and the other teams we're buying from, and selling to, with PSR. How do you like THOSE onions, Mr Premier League?
