Aston Villa target Mario Hermoso is closing on a move to Saudi Arabia this summer, putting an end to claims that the experienced Atletico Madrid defender was poised to move to Villa Park on a free transfer. (Fabrizio Romano)

If this real then we dodged  a bullet as has no ambition ans only going for money. Players like this at 28 can fuck off as far as im concerned.  Going to a mediocre league just for a payday

I tend to agree.

Shame if true. I started to watch this but had to stop after a minute due to the man mountain that he is. Seems an obvious replacement for Mings if Unai was looking to move him on.

I assume we'll be targeting Bosmans again given our financial restrictions. Hopefully there's some other decent players out of contract as good as Tielemans and Kamara.

Indeed, Eammon. Let's hope Monchi can start delivering, so much was made of his genius when he joined us, it will be interesting to see him in action.

I went to have a look and couldn't see anything on his twitter on a quick scan of the last two days. Was it elsewhere? Do you have a link?

The only other news on Saudi's was here at Football Espana

but they went on to add.

Quote
Hermoso has been linked to Aston Villa, Besiktas and Saudi Arabia, but there are no offers on the table for Spanish defender. The closest to his signature, by virtue of putting the most effort into talks and enquiries are Saudi Arabia, with several sides in the Pro League interested in him. Salary demands will not be an issue there either.

However the reality is that no side are close to a deal as of yet, meaning if Villa are keen to pursue Hermoso, then the field is open to them to pursue him. Atletico Madrid are yet to make contingency plans at the back for his departure, but several additions are expected this summer.

Villa tend not to leak these things, so - if AS has a semi respectable reputation over there (I honestly have no idea) makes more sense if it's his people.

Bidding phwoar and the rest of it.

This could be a similar situation to when we were linked with Diaby last summer. After being linked strongly to us for weeks suddenly he was allegedly going to Saudi before we eventually landed him. Probably his agent squeezing more money offers out of the interested clubs.

A semi respectable reputation? I like that. Like any sports daily they need to have stories but reading this one in AS and the comments, it's not really a big deal which means it probably has legs. If we are interested and Monchi done his homework, talk of other clubs it just papertalk from Italy, Turkey and Saudi PR.

Don't be surprised to see us corner the market of left footed centre halves.

There was also that rumour last summer that we were in for Jack Harrison. Same source.

I meant to the Fabrizio Romano part being as his name was in the original post. I was wondering where you got it from. My quoted section was from the same place as  your last link, but some of the others are just copy/paste across multiple sites.

Steve Kay
@stevek9KS1TV
Aston Villa are confident they can outmanoeuvre #AFC and #MUFC in securing the signing of Michael Olise

We understand that ideally Olise wants to join a #UCL team next season and secure a spot as a regular starter.

He has only been linked with Man U so far, but it's nice to be linked to the top, top players

Journalist Dean Jones has said that Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey is on Tottenham Hotspur’s shopping list ahead of the summer transfer window.

He should be on every big club's shopping list, but I would I would tell them he is not for sale
