66 assists in his last six seasons at Man City suggest he does pass, fairly often.

Yes, now granted that was a few years back but he has been at Chelsea and I don’t buy the argument he’s definitely over the hill. On a loan I’d be absolutely for it, Unai is pretty bloody good at getting the best out of players.

He definitely is. Look how poor he was last year for chelsea.  He is getting worse as each season goes on. His stock has fallen massively

You think that a player is going to be just the same in the mother of all basket cases as he is when working under Emery and co?

You clearly don't think Emery is up to much then.

Dave as good as unai is he isnt a magician that can turn shit into gold. No manager in history has ever transformed ever player around. Even unai hasnt succeeded in every player e.g zaniolo. Sterlings been shit for years and he is 29 his best days are past him.  I also question whether he has the desire anymore.

We dont need that here. Rather for go someone hungry that unai can coach into a top player

He might be past his prime but his record suggests he's hardly shit.
This 100%. Chelsea have been a basket case for the last few years and have had how many managers? I would constructively criticise Sterling over the years but to say he is shite is ridiculous and totally unfounded on any stats you care to quote.

Sterling was ordinary before and after his time at Citeh, whatever you think of Pep he coached him to be highly productive and effective in terms of goals and assists.

It’s probably a fair bet that Unai could coach him to return to similar levels of performance.

On loan, with a massive chunk of wages covered…. I would take him

Add’s genuine quality and experience, and can play anywhere across the front.

He has said that he is gutted to have been left out of the England set up, so this can be his springboard to getting back in the squad.

Get him in and get behind him

A purely hypothetical choice of Diaby or Sterling I would've taken Diaby every day.

I would too.

But if selling Diaby means that that we sign Onana and the cost for Sterling is £5-10m in wages for a year, then I'd take Onana + Sterling over Diaby.

Maybe, if Sterling is only a loan. But Luiz and Diaby out for Onana and Sterling would've been a no from me, despite the need for an Onana type player.

Be interesting to compare first 11's and squads vs last year when we're done.

He doesn't need to transform Sterling. He needs to get him to buy into what we do and contrinute positively. He's a talent player that is very frustrated by the circus that is Chelsea. I didn't like the way he went public but I can also imagine there are a number of players who have been deceived by what has happened at Chelsea.

To be fair i just looked at his stats last year it was alot bettee than i thought it was 8 goals and 4 assists in the league

But i watched a lot of chelsea and he was pretty bad a lot of the season. He should never ever be on set pieces thats for sure

John Townley confirming we have opened talks with Sterling. As a loan it's a very good option. He's only 29. I imagine Chelsea would need to cough up at least 50% of his salary.
John Townley....he just does exactly what I do...copy and paste job.

yeh, because of that I actually just assumed you were Romano. Not Townley.

He is not shit, he has a lot of talent but he has no football intelligence and has continued to frustrate team mates.
He is in decline and I do not believe we will be taking him.

The suggestion seems to be that the player is, understandably, looking for a permanent move rather than a loan.

I’d be a bit underwhelmed by signing Sterling to be honest.

What’s weird about Chelsea’s approach is it’s a mixture of cynically seeing players as assets rather than human beings, and failing to see
how treating players badly will also depreciate the value of their assets.

The amount they’ve paid, then the way they’ve treated Sterling means they won’t be able to sell him permanently or get him off their books on loan without paying a significant chunk of his wages. Bizarre.

Perhaps they've just 'opened talks' to say "We've got a vacancy for a decent chip chef in the Lower Grounds™ but if it is football you're after you are having a laugh mate."

Yeah - its literally like trying to sell a car - and saying to the buyer - "look before we start we are absolutely desperate to get rid of this car - cos I cant drive, don't have a garage, and have 20 other cars that I can't use "- now make me an offer.
