Don't tell the Smirker, but Ollie had been in the top 100 the past few years.

Yes, the voting system is such that the attention falls on the glamour clubs/countries.

That's why there's no Tielemans, etc.

I am surprised however, that the young player of the year of the world's foremost league competition is not a bit higher up.

Not that I'll be losing any sleep over it.

They'll put anyone in these days.

Screw his Watkins stuff, the worst thing he has ever done is refer to himself in the 3rd person. It should have been an immediate ban. That's why he's worse than SE, he wouldn't do that.

I'm not sure if this is right, but I read on Reddit that to make the top 100 they ask 219 journalists their top 40 players and work it out from there. That would make more sense as to why some miss out. I haven't double checked this.

It's there in the article:

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2025/dec/15/how-the-guardian-ranked-the-100-best-male-footballers-in-the-world-2025

I mean, you can complain about how it must be rubbish because [insert Villa player of choice] isn't in it, but I think one would struggle to come up with a better, fairer way of putting such a list together.

Is there a way of working out which journalists and, indeed, which countries slighted us so that we can direct our rage more accurately? I'd hate to ask my MP to direct a nuke at Ghana when it's those Honduras twats that I should be angry with.

Looks like the former Villa representation in the voting is Hitz and Gilles de Bilde.

So probably just target everyone but Germany and Belgium to be on the safe side.

Edit - Luis Miguel Echegaray is a big Villa guy isn’t he? So spare Peru as well.

Just spotted Villa legend Gilles de Bilde among the list of contributors.

Edit: too quick for me. Missed Hitzlsperger.
