Not among places 41 to 100 in the Graun's world top 100.

Expect him to be in the top 40 as revealed tomorrow.

What a signing.

I like how they admit Foden is in it because he scored some four goals in the run-up to the selection.

Seems pretty crazy to think someone could be regarded as one of the best players in the world just because he has been really brilliant previously and recently.

It for the 2025 calendar year, a season where he has done nothing of note apart from a small spell in Jan and then another in November, which could have even been before the votes were fully cast. That puts him in the top 100 footballers for 2025?

Foden scored 18 goals in 2025.
Rogers scored 14
Palmer scored 9

Foden's superb but I think his game's quite dependent on the players around him performing well and enabling him.

Whereas Rogers strikes me as the sort who will regularly grab a game by the scruff of the neck and drag his side to a win, even when his teammates are having a bit of an off day.

Players like that are rare indeed.

My issue with Phil Foden and why he is overrated is that he flatters to deceive. When Manchester City are purring and everything’s going their way, he looks world class. But the moment City are off it or a game gets scrappy, he goes missing. In the England national team — he rarely takes games by the scruff of the neck. Stick him in an average side and he looks pretty average himself.

That’s why I rate Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers higher. Palmer was outstanding even when Chelsea were an absolute mess — he carried them and made things happen on his own.

And Rogers? Says it all really. He’s a proper match-winner. When we need that bit of magic or someone to step up, he delivers. That’s the difference for me — players who turn up when it’s tough, not just when everything’s going right.

Odds are that whichever one of those 3 plays for your club is the one folks will think is better. And I doubt many would swap theirs for either of the other two.

You probably wouldn't swap Rogers for him because he's signicantly older. I wouldn't swap Rogers for Messi but he has still, clearly, had a fantastic career.

Edit: scratch that - Foden is only 25. Thought he must be at least 30, he's been playing forever!

I would like to see Rogers given the job of regular penalty taker. He plays most of the time and he's got the ability. Just needs to settle into the role.

Palmer scored one goal between the middle of January and the end of last season. He wasn't making much happen then.

As compared to Palmer, Rogers' sheer athleticism stands out - like Konsa, he is an absolute beast and is pretty well available (every minute of) every game, where Palmer looks to be hitting his physical limits.

Saw that.

Can't believe he would be top 10.

Equally, can't believe he wouldn't be top 100.

Something must give.

In the last 4 years, the PFA Young Player of the year has finished 12th, 14th, 24th and 25th (Palmer, Saka, Foden, Foden).

Chip on shoulder incoming.

It'll definitely be the second one. It's 200+ random former players and current journalists from around the world voting on their favourite players.

Former Algerian internationals, Armenian coaches and Togolese journalists are going to be picking PSG and Madrid players, not Villa players.
