I've just bought a seat in K1 for £29.00 and will wander across to my normal area where there are loads of empty seats and save a few quid.....

Perfect

Do they still open the gates after halftime and let folks in for free? ( I recall someone telling me this used to happen back in the day, did it or is it an urban myth?)

Gates opened but iirc it was usually about 20 mins from the end, but a load of kids would run in to watch the end.

My older brother used to take me and we did this....he wanted to watch football stuff, I was about 5 or 6 and just wanted to play at running up and down the steps!

Spot on. People would watch scraps of the game from Aston Park hill which gave a view of part of the Holte End half and then pour down as the exits were opened.

Do people think it would have been a sell out if tickets were £15-£20

Obviously we would have sold more but would we have sold out ?

Me and my lad are going, my lower holte tickets in my normal seats were a bit cheaper, but anyone I’ve spoken to isn’t going citing price.

Not scientific, but i think they may lose 10k off the gate due to their arrogance. Hopefully a small wake up call

History suggests not .
I'd would've guessed 35k at a push with reasonable  prices.
Looking at 9/10k below as it stands .

Certainly could've sold the game much better ... buy 3 euro games get Everton half price as an example .

I would imagine a lot of prem teams will have reduced numbers for this as the likes of Sky have reduced the competition to a non entity unless someone from the NW are in the final

Or, as was the case for many a year prior to this, first home cup game free for ST holders.

14,840 still for sale to Villa fans.

Add the lower North which I believe will be left empty and that's what, approx 17k+ seats below what we'd normally sell to Villa fans?
Wednesday is always difficult in Brum. Night shifts at local foundries and Asda Minworth have about 10,000 night shelf fillers all Villa fans.

Most of friends in my echelon have refused to attend because tickets are far too cheap and they will end up sitting with normal plebs.

I’m not sure the price is the biggest or only thing keeping people away
The fact that we all know we’re going to get treated to a load of inept incompetent players performing like clowns doesn’t help, not saying we won’t win because Everton will be the same

But If the club themselves look at it in a luke warm way and can’t be arsed to take it seriously then why should the supporters
If they don’t give a shit nobody else will

Half-time opening only happened at the Sty. I often used to go to meet my mates.

i remember standing on the park for the game against Ipswich, and then getting in for the final 10 minutes when the gates opened, we were losing 2-0.

Was still happening at River Plate in the late 90s, I got into the Monumental for free for a game against Newell's Old Boys.

13,740 left now.

There were 17900 available late on the Monday night that they went on general sale (5pm)

So in a week and a bit they've sold between 4-5 thousand tickets.
