There may be a perfectly reasonable explanation but it's shit like this that breeds suspicion and distrust. Minor point it may be but it all mounts up and there's an atmosphere around the place at the moment and it's not pleasant.

There's an Ellis-ian feel to the place at the minute, where you enjoy the football on the pitch in spite of the club and the disdain feels like a two-way thing.

During the Ellis era it seemed the problem was at the top of the club with the chairman and those working for him were doing their best for fans. Now it seems the other way round. The owners are intrinsically fine, at least outwardly, but those they have employed are antagonising the fans.

Perfect storm of greed biting them on the arse last night. Firstly, they robbed everybody of their inclusive cup game. Then they charged too much such that the ground was half empty, and some highly conveneient 'technical issue' meant they couldn't announce the attendance. Then the team put in a shocker, and now there will be no more income from that competition this season.

It may have been mentioned but I read Newcastle charged £15 and had half price food and drinks - result was a storming atmosphere and a win.  And they probably took a lot more money than us too.

Lowering our levels, being demanding, trying to relieve the crowd of the hard-earned money, with enthusiasm, in the spirit of the Ellis history.

Someone on Twitter has said the ticket office told him the attendance was 23,851 last night.

13k available in Villa seats, unsold dead space in North stand and completely empty corporate spaces - is it possible that's right and it was really that low?  Jfc.  Someone should lose their job for this.

Villa fans could buy tickets in the normal away end so that's included in the approx 13k unsold. Add in that the back of the Upper North was blocked off, I assume Terrace View sold very badly for this one, plus however many in the boxes and other corporate and it's probably not a million miles off.
