Seeing the patronym Johnson popping up on here is irritating me more than it should. Can't he change his name?

Seeing the what, now?
Patronym ;-)

Maybe getting the players we want is far removed from just wanting them. We just don't know what goes on during the process and the amount of players we are linked with who we actually are after is purely guesswork. How strong were the links to donkey McGuire etc (had a few including me worried as they seemed to be getting stronger) yet with seemingly no truth in it at all.

Even when the likes of Romano stated we had P.Torres (seems to have gone very quiet on the Barcelona one) it still felt like an age between that tweet and him actually being announced.

Not sure we ever seriously considered Barnes - which is a shame

Danjuma - very strange that he was heavily linked pre Spurs loan and now not a sniff - not sure why we would not have taken a loan punt.

Surely UEFA must be watching this dodgy load of shit with SA with a worried look on their faces. If they sit around doing nothing these cnuts will simply just buy their way to the top table and manipulate the game, the Euro breakaway from within. If it is a "world league " created UEFA by definition would be impotent.

If that Max Lee tweet is true then Diaby is off to Saudi.

You can't blame him altogether for not dismissing it out of hand. If he still chooses to come to us he will have made the right decision in the end and i'd welcome him. If he does end up going there then fuck him, it'll just be about the money.

Can’t blame him if he takes the money either. If they’re offering something mental like, I dunno, £500k a week, it’s hard to turn down no matter what. What’s annoying is that Newcastle’s owners are disrupting us, a direct competitor.

"Diaby will wait for Al-Nassr to agree a fee then make his decision."

I don't know why we don't walk away from this.  He has the wage offers from both clubs but is waiting for Nassr to agree a fee?  If he wanted Villa he has everything he needs to know already.  If he's needs the money that much let him go to Saudi and look elsewhere.

If I were an international player of his age I’d be prioritising playing in the top euro leagues / competitions and becoming very rich over playing in some tin pot shite with a load of has beens and never will be’s whilst becoming extremely rich.
The point I was making really is that if he does come to us we shouldn’t hold it against him that he at least considered his options for a while.

By the way - extremely telling that the Saudi clubs are offering the moon to the players but stingeing noticeably on the transfer fees.

Just as well Iceland didn't qualify for the Women's World Cup.

Yes very noticeable - why do you think that is ? Is it liquidity ?

The last time something happened that could affect EUFA financially with that "Super League" thing, they were very quick to come out & speak against it.

If it is going to affect them financially, then they will do something.

If it wont, & at the same time they can personally benefit from large brown paper envelopes, they will do what they usually do with corruption.

Fuck all because they are all eating from the same table...

They've paid £30m for a 32 year old Mahrez

Clearly, I think. Limiting the amount of money their spending releases into the European game.

We may already have done (walked away).  Or it may all be complete bollocks anyway.  Who knows.  But yes, if it’s true we should be walking away from this one.

Seems there’s suspicion as to the Saudi clubs motives - do people really think this is about destabilising us?  It’s feasible but seems a bit far fetched.  Is it because this seems like the first case of a premier league team trying to buy a Saudi target, rather than selling ageing players to one of those clubs to ease FFP etc.

Yep, I think that's exactly what it is, they don't want to fund other teams so all the money is at the players rather than the clubs. That's why the Diaby one feels so strange to me, him (regardless of what happens) and to an extent Neves feel like the 2 outliers.

maybe but I assume Neves & maybe to a lesser degree Milinkovic-Savic had suitors other than SA
