Please can we have one thread ( a bloody important one as well as its about new recruits) to remain politics free.

If people want to discuss Saudi leagues and the politics behind it etc then fine - but not in a thread like this

Pretty please

Which transfers are you upset that people aren't discussing?
Why don't you and the merry band of moderators comply with the requests and moderate instead of asking questions. You can tell that not only are individuals unhappy, but there is also off-topic arguing on this thread. When there has been a significant amount of off-topic conversation, it is quite challenging to follow and discuss the specified issue.

It's all rather unpleasant to read and lacking in context of transfer discussion
This goes against the forum's spirit and I want to say I'm dissatisfied with what is being allowed to continue.

Up The Villa!
On a personal note, I'm very happy with this forum and the way it can enrich the often tedious, repetitive speculation about transfers, formations, shit badges and the like. If there were no OT ramblings there would be no point for me.  I get that some might find this frustrating but the only way to counter it is to post about the topic and hope somebody engages with you. Ranting and trying to change the spirit of a forum that has been in existence for a couple of decades is only going to end one way in my humble opinion.
Agree. I have fair bit of MH around things about hair loss, there is a topic on the OT about hair, I avoid it, don’t feel the need for the mods to change anything and love how we go off on a tangent, pun fest or African Car reverser marathon. Hate to say it, we are a bunch of mad motherfuckers on here who like the randomness so if you Footy don’t, maybe stop being Canute trying to stop the tide and look the other way or let it go.

The reports I was referring to probably aren't from reliable sources, just in case that needed clarification. Just a lot of differing stories doing the rounds today.

We can all access twitter I want you to know so it's a good idea to only post reliable sources so we don't get our hopes up or have them dashed.

Perfectly fine to put that sort of stuff in here

Reliable stuff that looks like it might happen will have it's own thread, and nonsense rumours from Twitter or elsewhere are just as welcome here as more important stuff like the works of Joyce and analysis of Saudi Arabia's human rights records.

We can all access twitter

Strictly speaking, we can't.

One of Musk's bright ideas was that you can't view it read-only, you need to be logged in.

Anyway, just pouncing on a chance to be pedantic, as is the way of this place!

I can't actually access twitter because I don't have an account and Elon made it so you can't see stuff without one. So you're wrong on that point.

Also about 90% of this thread is pure nonsense, and it keeps everyone going, so if you're only looking for 100% verified news, I'd say check the official site once a day and save yourself the disappointment.

Elon John. The megalomaniac alter ego of Elton who is literally a rocket man.

I consider myself to be pretty eclectic in my reading tastes and have read books from many genres. James Joyce is an author that has always eluded me ... I just cannot get on with his writing. Can't explain it; just the way it is I suppose.

It wouldn't put me off welcoming a player with Ulysses in his name; no, not at all.
He didn’t have a style of writing to get along with. He borrowed and stole and mixed and matched – like lots of modernists.
He wrote 4 novels/book of short stories and they’re all completely different. And in Ulysses the style changes throughout.
Maybe perfect for an eclectic reader.
Ha, touche! Maybe, but it hasn't worked for me yet.

I imagine Leverkusen would be a bit pissed off too since he told them that he wanted to play in the Premier League.

I'm pretty sure I read that they don't actually want to sell him, which is a worry simply because if the player demands a move, it would be understandable if they just held on for as big a bid as possible, wherever it comes from.

That's either a negotiating ploy or rubbish from the source. They've bought his replacement and basically said they were pleased with our opener but would need more.

I’d imagine players agents will be using the Saudi Pro league as a new way to bump up contract offers.

There is also the cynic in me thinking that if Diaby goes to Saudia Arabia, we are being stopped from strengthening by the same people who own one of our top end of the table rivals in Newcastle United...

Is it a coincidence that they want Diaby in particular?

Or are they throwing loads of random shit at the wall & hoping some of it sticks?

Yeah, if they are genuinely interested in him then this could be pivotal signing. It does show that the Saudi's can get younger players which could open the door for others. So far their sig ings have been older players coming to the end of their playing days. He will.come to us....
