Mateu Alemany has promised Joan Laporta that he will not sign any players from Barcelona out of respect.

I don’t believe that for a second. We just poached their highly rated Director of Football. They are skint and need to relieve themselves of a number of players and salaries. If we make a reasonable offer for a player they are open to selling they will sell. Barcelona aren’t going to care if the money comes from Aston Villa or any other club.

It might be the complete opposite and Barca asking him to take a couple just to ease their finances.  Out of respect, I won't poach any players, is more like it.   We will soon find out I suppose.

Prowsey is the sort of player Liverpool would get under Klopp and he'd be the engine of the midfield for the next five years and everyone wonders why he wasn't snapped up sooner.

Honestly JWP is a great player. Make it happen Villa.

Let Liverpool have him then…if he was anything like good enough hed have been out of Southampton years and years ago.  The only player of there’s I’d go anywhere near is Lavia….he could be a star

Maybe. I just don’t think any kind of gentleman’s agreements exist like that. And especially a club that want to buy players or just keep some of the ones they have. They can’t even do that. They’re not turning us down just because we recruited a former executive.

If we're still looking for young and hungry, Torres could be the man. He was born on 29/02/2000, so he's only had six birthdays.

But you can’t win anything with kids.

His record is 1 in 4, not good enough for a top class striker.

He's not really an out and out striker though, he's more of a wide forward isn't he?

Whoooooosh!

I’m hoping that Alemany has rather got his eyes on the next batch of talent that he would have previously brought in to Barcelona.

Whilst it’s great that we seem to be bringing in the expertise and prepared to back them with the £ to build something special, we shouldn’t just spunk out a load of money first time to bring in a load of names.  We’re building for the next 5-10 years, let Newcastle and City deuce it out for the vanity signings.

More interesting for me is Alemany wanted to bring young talent to Barca, Laporta wants to spend the money bringing back Messi and a few older players. Alemany will have a list of top young players that would improve our squad. I'd prefer we recruit players that will by into the Emery way rather than journeymen that know it all.

Absolutely. I want our future to be a mix of our own academy; be it to develop and bring through or sell, talented ready made younger players who have sell on value and established stars. All of whom are able to play the Emery style from the very beginning. He’s taken a squad of players who 7 months ago most of us, outside of a few didn’t see a future for. He’s going to do amazing things with players he and Alemany has meticulously identified and analyzed.

I don't think Alemany will be identifying or analysing players, he's the one that will determine the recruitment strategy and budget control. That said he may have a dossier sitting on his desk at Barca of younger targets and prices that he may be photocopying as we speak. ;)

Torres is a tall order.

Not if he's leaning.
