As for replacements Pickford could be gettable, one of the best with his feet, bit of a character were some links before the world cup.

Bit like replacing what Grealish brought to the team with what Bailey brings to the team.

Agreed, a big No to Pickford from me but hopefully not something we'll have to worry about.

Evening everyone, here's a short 3 minute video detailing everything you need to know about Marco Asensio and why I believe he's ideal for Aston Villa under Emery. The man's made no secret of the fact that he's looking for regular first team football and I'm fairly confident this one will go through. As always, I'd love to hear your thoughts and am happy to answer any questions you may have, cheers!

PS: I couldn't find a thread on the player, hope it's okay with the mods that I've created this one, if not then my apologies in advance

"He scored many a thundercunt"...Is that a technical coaching term :)

To be fair to Pickford (not that I necessarily want to) he was absolutely unbelievable on Monday against Brighton.  He is clearly a good keeper who is prone to mind-farts on occasion - proper coaching might get that out of him.

We don't need to worry anyway, Emi is going nowhere.

He's a ray-a-sunshine in the dressing room too, by all accounts.

could have said the same about aaron ramsdale when he was at sheff united, but i think he has been brilliant for arsenal since he went there.

personally. if someone offers silly money for martinez, i would take it. i trust emery to utilise the money wisely.

Pickford has recently signed a phat new contract. Even if we did want him, he'd cost a tonne.

FWIW, I don't think we'll sell him. A new deal may well happen mind, putting him on seriously big money.

He does several interviews where he says he wants to break Bozzie's clean sheet record, that he saw what Grealish did as taking the easy route and not what he's about, says he wants to play Champions League football with us etc. Then one twat in Argentina who probably has no idea about our club and thinks Martinez is too good for us, writes a story about him wanting to leave and the gutter press (which of course, the Mail jumps onto instead of doing some proper journalism) jump all over it and leads to several pages on here about it.

I much prefer reading things like this -

"The Athletic add that Alemany is already eyeing up a deal that could see multi-Champions League winner Marco Asensio arrive at Aston Villa from Real Madrid.

Barcelona benchwarmer Ferran Torres has been linked too. Villa, under former Villarreal, Sevilla and Valencia coach Unai Emery, are also reportedly looking at Samu Chukwueze, Pau Torres and Nico Williams. Las Palmas’ so-called ‘new Pedri’ Alberto Moleiro too."

Moleiro is a new one on me.

Saw Manuel Ugarte being linked with us today, and while I think he'll end up at Liverpool or Arsenal, that's a 100% yes from me if we can pull it off.

The link on the BBC Gossip* last night was a bit stronger saying we are in talks to sign him. We need RCF's expert evaluation of him.

*I know.

Yes Id say Man Utd would be the likeliest but if De Gea resigns up, Id cross them off as well. If he doesnt then, for the kind of money we’d want, even they might be looking for someone a little younger maybe? I suppose if the Arabs take over, all bets will be off as they will be looking to make a big splash transfer wise.
If the red Mancs made an amazing offer, would we perhaps look to have Henderson as a replacement?

No part-exchanges please. He can't even get a game at Forest ahead of old-timer Keylor Navas.

I do respect Keylor's experience and medal-collection but Hendo just doesn't cut it.

If he hadn't got a season-ending injury they wouldn't have brought Navas in.

Yeah, I thought he was injured. Still, the point stands, would be a no from me
