Fair enough. I thought he was back but just benched. Seems they have another journeyman, Hennessey as back-up.

You don't join the 'Big 6' by selling your best players to them.  Particularly in a position where finding elite replacements is so difficult.

Anyone reputable or is it just the riff-raff?

Saw Manuel Ugarte being linked with us today, and while I think he'll end up at Liverpool or Arsenal, that's a 100% yes from me if we can pull it off.

The link on the BBC Gossip* last night was a bit stronger saying we are in talks to sign him. We need RCF's expert evaluation of him.

*I know.

From my source in Lisbon -

He is really good defensively and at high pressing. Also he turns up at big games. He could improve his passing, especially against teams that Park The bus.
But he would be perfect for Villa. Expensive tho (like 40-60 millon euros)

Sounds good, get him in. Like the idea of having a Uruguayan in the squad to boost our South American contingent.

The Torres link is being reported in Spanish media by actual journalists rather than just Twitter gobshites.

If I were Man U , I’d get degea signed up. It would be far cheaper than 60 million plus on a 30 year old replacement.

Think Martinez is miles better than DDG. I'd say that view would be commonly held outside of AVFC supporters too. Don't think Man United will be in the market for elite players this summer, CL football will help but they are miles off where they were even two seasons ago. They blindingly overpaid for likes of Antony and Casemiro last summer and fortunate likes of Chelsea and Tottenham have been so poor. They will also be taking big losses on moving on likes of Sancho, Maguire and Martial.

It would be great if we get Ugarte and Torres.

Alemany worked with him at Valencia and then signed him at Barca. Could be just the usual 2 + 2 but state Barcelona are in they'll be selling a couple to premier league for 30-40m.

He's still only 23 and already had that 18 months at Man. City where he did o.k amongst fierce competition.

His profile is second striker and can play across forward line so pretty logical player to target for that next step I think.

If we're still looking for young and hungry, Torres could be the man. He was born on 29/02/2000, so he's only had six birthdays.

But you can’t win anything with kids.
