3 points. Fairly drab game and Villa Park was flat as fuck. I expect better when I fly over for the match. Sing some songs you lazy buggers! Tsk!

Were you sat between Deano and Juan Pablo?

It’s been said he doesn’t like to give young players false hope. I don’t believe for a minute it’s a message to the owners who will back him. I don’t agree with it either but I believe this more than worry it’s a little dig.

As I said elsewhere, it’s rubbish because a youth team keeper on the bench as a second sub goalie has absolutely no chance of ever getting on. We had one central defender on the bench yesterday, and he ended up playing in midfield. An injury to Konsa or Mings after that and we’d have had nothing.

I read something last night that he said he needs 3 goalies for the warm ups and he's happy with 6 outfield subs.

I tend to think like Ian it may be subtle protest at the squad depth
It isn't just fill a place on the bench though like a comp winner. The player involved would need to be integrated into every aspect of the pre-match briefings / routine / warm-ups etc. I imagine Unai is a very thorough and meticulous man and would not want someone there if they weren't ready for every aspect of his match day (and prior days) experience. The goalkeeping unit is slightly different and you can see how / why the three working together makes sense so including all three is no problem). He did include Kaden a few times but has soon dropped him once he signed his professional contract.

I love Unai, but i'm not a fan of basically saying to the youth players "you're so shit i'd rather have an empty seat on the bench than you". Doesn't strike me as much of a confidence builder to a kid trying to make it in the game. The 2 keepers thing doesn't bother me at all.

It's the kind of stunt Harry Redknapp would pull if he was looking for the board to invest in new signings....

They both look as though they could both play in the next match, great players.

Transfer deadline day - winds down window to Sky reporter. Well I haven't got any players (having signed 7 or 8) but I think that's it for this window

There might be a sending off in this, there usually is.

I thought we’d win by 4 or 5 too but glad i got the dullest bit correct.

More importantly, how was the curry at Shabab's?
Sound. Had poppadoms, mixed grill starter,
and a Keema Balti with 'ladyfingers', Madras hot. Mate had chicken Balti. Medium naan for two. Service was a bit long and the manager came over and apologised but we weren't too bothered to be honest. Few cans of Stella from the shop down the road. Lovely!

Saw my first Villa v Palace game in 1967. We've played them a lot over the years. There has never ever been a memorable game with them. In fact the only stand out Palace related thing I can think of was Dalians goal at Selhurst Park- and that was against Wimbledon !

Not just Juan Pablo Angel at the game yesterday.

After a billion years, we have finally found out how to treat the people who kept the fabric of the club going through thick, thin, thicker and thinner

Well done to whoever thought this was a good idea.
