Emery on Moreno: 'We signed Ian Maatsen and we were speaking with different players in this position. The difficulty is to manage with three left-backs. Moreno is the player who is now close to leaving.'

I said it earlier, but it's not a situation I saw coming this time last year. I remember being very worried about Moreno missing the start of the season, but Digne really stepped up, and Moreno never really recovered his form after the injury.

🚨 Two Spanish clubs & 1 Turkish club are also interested in signing Àlex Moreno.

Wasn’t the same after his injury and I think he missed having Ramsey ahead of him on that flank. The previous season the pair of them had built up a really good understanding.

If he goes, what does it mean for us in terms of other business? Does it free up enough to bring someone else in? That other defender maybe?

I suspect Moreno isn’t on massive wages. With Archer off the books too, maybe there is some wiggle room.

I think it's more about moving Diego Carlos on and bringing in someone who's capable of playing RB and RCB. We could do with bringing in a 10 too ideally.

That is very weird unless we’re getting decent fee. He’ll just be a depreciating asset at his age.

I did hope he would get a return to Spain for his sake. Now I hope he gets playing time at Forest. Maatsen is an upgrade on him though offensively. Defensively still work to be done with Maatsen but wish Moreno well
On form he’s an exciting left back and he scored a few nice goals as well as saving a few with last ditch tackles and goal line clearances!
Good luck to him

He did great for a while, but he never really came back at the same level after his injury. Maatsen and Digne are better and are better options in terms of squad balance. I do hope we’re clearing a bit of space for a couple of players.

Never been able to scale the same heights post injury but he made a big difference when he first came in.

Wages will be paid though, which is better than us paying them to a player who can’t get in the squad.
