My boss said that Sunday was the worst performance he's ever seen. I couldn't really confirm or deny as I turned off at 2-0.
Friends who follow other teams have said the same to me.

Getting into recency bias here. It was terrible, let's leave it at that. 'Worst performance ever seen' is going a bit far, especially with the post-Lerner era in mind.

Yes, lest we forget losing 0-6 to Liverpool in the relegation year and Lescott gate or actually nearly any other home game that season, or then there was 1-6 against Man City in the first yesr back

If Real Madrid came for him he would go, I don’t think that’s particularly controversial. Hopefully they will find another target.

Up,

It’s only because Emery had set the bar so high since he’s been here that it feels so bad.
It was awful, but we’ve been worse.

In Unai’s time here easily the worst attitude and performance at home, but perhaps not the worst result.

... to qualify my remark, the reference was to the last 18 months, which I regard as a veiled compliment: we've set high standards that people have come to expect from us.

He ain't good enough for Madrid/Barca he's a tier below below what's needed there and actually a tier above the level of manager Villa would usually attract. We've struck lucky getting him. Somehow we need to get through Thursday and Sunday with 2 wins and then the rebuild can start.

Villa and Unai are still being torched by segments of the national football media for our white flag display at the weekend. We really need to change the national narrative by looking after business on Thursday.

Disappointing that the media are blaming Unai for the tifos.

I isn't Emerys fault if we have to sell our better players to conform to their stupid rules. Already the top players out of the top four clubs are being targeted for summer purchases, Man City with all their oustanding charges will lead the pack no doubt.

No I agree that we need to sell players making it hard to compete. But the odd signing aside he has overseen the acquisition of mostly average or poor players who haven’t contributed to improving the first XI. So when you look at what other sides with lesser revenues than us have done in buying players and selling top ones, we gave underperformed in that area. That isn’t me rewriting history. Despite that he’s worked miracles with the players he’s got. Punched way above our weight. But it could and should have been better than the over dependence on many of the same players across his time at the club.

Agree , with few exceptions our transfer business has been sub optimal.
There have been few successes with bringing younger players , Bogarde is the only one I can think of and he hasn’t exactly been pulling up trees.
Is quite remarkable where we are despite all of this, but our transfer activity is going to need to get a lot better as this bunch age out.
