It would be a huge surprise and huge fucking mistake.

It would be the stupidest thing in the whole history of stupidityness.

It would nearly be as stupid as sacking a European Cup winning manager to appoint the manager of Shrewsbury, or appointing McLeish. Fortunately no club would ever be that stupid.

If we don't qualify for the Champions League would anyone be totally surprise if we start next season with a new manager? I wouldn't! Top end football is about winning trophies and I'm pretty sure the owners will be as pissed off by yesterday's result as us fans. I just can't get my head around yesterday's performance. So insipid. When we play with purpose we're as good as anyone. When we play so slowly we look awful. It was Crystal Fucking Palace for fucks sake not PSG or Barcelona.

I'm getting the vibe that these players have stopped listening to Emery.  All the tell-tell signs are there.

Certain players played every week even if they have to be put out of position. Rogers being arsy towards Watkins, falling behind the first time the opposition shoot again and again, last minute goals, defensive errors that never seem to be addressed.

Were the 'tell tale signs there' after the PSG and Newcastle games? Utter rubbish.

I do wonder if things are not quite as rosy behind the scenes.  The Watkins interview where he said 'I am furious with sitting on the bench, I have told the manager, me, AND A FEW OTHERS, are not happy with being on the bench'.  I thought at the time that it was a naive thing to say as it didn't come across well.  By all means, talk about yourself Ollie but to mention others smacks of an attempt to undermine.   Emery will sort out the furious bunch, I suspect.

Thing is, if there are other players moaning about not being selected, there aren't many other teams who pay what we do, and dont rotate the squad.

The disadvantages of a big squad. Trying to keep everyone happy. Loanees on big £ doesn’t help either if they’re not doing it consistently but still playing

As I said on the transfer thread - a few of our favourite players are probably coming to the end of their time here unfortunately Mings, Ollie etc.

Short term he needs to be starting Garcia, Malen and Maatsen for the final four games.

Garcia I think was signed more for next season and so with the injuries we started him sooner than we'd have liked but if he's deemed good enough to play v Liverpool he should be fine to play v Fulham and the others. Comical if we just go to Disasi there now to see out the season.

The other two I don't really get what is going on. A few are moaning now we were tired with all the exertions in last few weeks. That would be a more legitimate point if we weren't refusing to start one of the freshest players in the whole squad.

Malen ignored for months, starts scoring off the bench and then starts and does well for v Forest. Benched every since. Putting on Bailey ahead of him yesterday was a complete pee take. Begs the question did Emery even want to sign him?!

Maatsen aswell had a really tough time in the winter but he's knuckled down and was genuinely outstanding v Newcastle at both ends. Unused sub v Man. City and only put on at 2-0 down, that's not good enough for me.

Digne been superb last 18 months but reality is he's in his 30s with one year left on his deal and in games like yesterday he can't get up to opposition penalty area as quickly as Maatsen so we need to be trusting him a little more with consecutive prem starts.

You would think Uni and his team would look at how other teams have beaten Palace this season and see how Villa can adapt. Palace play the same way in every game so it shouldn't be that difficult to see the obvious flaws they have. It seemed obvious that we were intent on playing the same as usual against them almost hoping rather than expecting a different outcome. It's just so odd that such a detailed based manager can be so wrong time and again against a fairly ordinary team as Palace.

He didn't pick Mings to get it on v Mateta so straight away I thought he got the 11 massively wrong.

Asensio couldn't get into it either so when that happens it simply dosen't merit Rogers going out to the right as he's completely lost there so our two ball carriers and creators were nulified and Ollie had very little support against three CBs, Guehi could practically man mark him.

What should've happened was Ramsey on the left, Malen on the right (given Bailey actually made an impact coming on and running at them directly) and Rogers central. Then we'd have given them more issues when on the ball.

It does somewhat feel like a team coming to the end of a cycle rather than building together going forward.

That should have been the set up.
