If we don't qualify for the Champions League would anyone be totally surprise if we start next season with a new manager? I wouldn't! Top end football is about winning trophies and I'm pretty sure the owners will be as pissed off by yesterday's result as us fans. I just can't get my head around yesterday's performance. So insipid. When we play with purpose we're as good as anyone. When we play so slowly we look awful. It was Crystal Fucking Palace for fucks sake not PSG or Barcelona.

I'm getting the vibe that these players have stopped listening to Emery.  All the tell-tell signs are there.

Are these tell tale signs in the room with us now? Fuck me this site doesn't half make a shit result worse.

Some of this ‘terrible season’ stuff is so over the top. Yesterday was horrific but a week ago we were dismantling Newcastle, short memories.

Quarter finals of the champions league, semi finals of the cup, challenging for European places.

Honestly, anyone who thinks that is a bad season must have been supporting us for about two years.

You're exactly right. I'm struggling to contextualise now as it's so raw, but fuck me, there's some stupid things being said.

Re Unai, stating the obvious, but we/he neesd a strong end to the season...4 wins, we can't just let us tail off.

Well, you wouldn't want to finish poorly and then realise that if we had won them, we'd have made top 5.

They’ve seen one small clip, about 2 seconds long of Roger’s pulling a face and come up with this.

For all we know someone farted ffs!

Unai massively cocked up an enormous game. Hopefully we continue to improve as a team next season, it’s so Villa isn’t it. Just when you think something is going to happen, we reset.

Yes I feel like people are getting carried away with the emotion of yesterday. It was a real kick in the balls, but let’s not look at where we are and how far we’ve come. As for anyone talking about Unai being fired - beyond ridiculous and entitled.

Spot on.  I think once the disappointment of yesterday fades, things will be seen a lot more clearly.  We've still got something massive to play for and have two big home games left, which we can now solely focus on.

There have been some memorable moments again this season, with beating Bayern Munich at home being one of my favourite games over the years following the club.

Re Unai, stating the obvious, but we/he neesd a strong end to the season...4 wins, we can't just let us tail off.

Fulham will be tricky as it will be a very flat atmosphere with the early kick off and cup hangover so that is one where the players need to be on it from first minute and the crowd will respond.

We will struggle down at Bournemouth, they are a Palace clone team with their pace and intensity and they are playing for 8th which might still mean Euro qualification.

Need to be winning the last two with how bad they've been in the league, no excuses.

I think that's my main disappointment with yesterday. In sight of a trophy and we go into our shells, play conservatively and just wait for the opposition to mess up. They don't, take the lead and then we quickly run out of ideas chasing the game.

Yesterday was no different to how we approached the Fulham play off final or the final in 2000. However with Emery's quality and experience you expected better than the ones who led us in those years.

To win major trophies you need to take risks. Where was the risk yesterday at any stage? What's worse is we'd probably have played the final in exactly the same manner so at least we avoided that scenario.

Is it too much to ask for a Villa team with plenty of quality players to turn up for a showpiece Wembley game and at least try to get on the front foot early for once? Fed up of it especially after watching Newcastle do exactly that to Liverpool a few weeks ago. We have the players to do what they did.

If they win today and we are not careful they will be playing for more than 8th and to catch us!

We'll get lots more practice of semi finals under Emery.

Yesterday's horror show is in stark contrast with the previous Saturday's performance; hence my huge disappointment yesterday. We know what we are capable of but to be so cautious and to set up so confusedly seems very, very weird to me.

Still got Arsenal and Man. City away in their last four.

We are finishing 7th at worst.

Good. Let's go on the front foot next time and actually attempt to go 1-0 up in first 20 minutes. Generally SFs are easier to win if you do it.

Like the vast majority I gave him a pass on Olympiakos last season as we were running on empty, riddled by injuries and CL was the priority.

Can't be using those excuses for yesterday.

Bournemouth won't be losing to Arsenal reserves.
