“There are fewer dribblers because if they barely get the ball and you say, 'Pass it!'... Imagine if Messi, when he was eight years old, had been constantly told by his coaches to "Pass it!" We wouldn't have him today." "Football has become such a huge thing, everyone reads, studies, and thinks that with that, they can already manage.""If you tell a 7 or 8-year-old to make a diagonal run, cover defensively... He's seven years old! Let him play with the ball, make mistakes, and when he's 14 or 15, then we can start correcting." "It's a message for the future. This is a sport, and the beauty of football should not be lost."
I never thought you'd settle for leaving Villa Park, Percy. Say it ain't so.

Imagine being a grown man and actually typing something like out, and then posting it.

Wouldn’t surprise me if the strategy is to keep demand high by restricting supply; as all of us who have economics O levels know this increases prices. At the same time bigger sponsorship deals can still be done which won’t cost £100m or reduce capacity for two years and will dwarf the effect of 10,000 extra seats. Front of shirt, stadium naming rights, etc.If and when that’s all sorted, we move. It’s worth bearing in mind that according to the rule of thumb for valuing football clubs (5 x revenue) we are now worth a billion quid, How much did NSWE pay and how much invested since? Just over half that I think? And they’ve sold a chunk recently, they’ll be delighted with their investment so far and will keep investing IMO.
I realize that we are where are because of the intense analysis Emery puts into our game. And we absolutely needed it post Lego head. But does it also stifle our play where we become too rigid, structured and predictable at times. I find that we are very dedicated to “the plan” and Emery references that a lot. But does the plan allow for creativity as much as it could. I might be overthinking it but with two games without scoring and not a lot of shots I feel we are seeing our players not as free as they have been in previous games.
6th favourite to be the next Barcelona manager. Slightly concerning.
I have O and A Level Economics, I still don't have a clue about Villa's wage bill, or FFP but I could explain why people still attempt to obtain mythical expensive 'pints of beer' at half-time in the Trinity concourse even though it is nigh on impossible to obtain one.
