We got away with it at tottenham because it was very much a slow press. As you say harder challenges to come but I’m sure that will be something Emery will continue to work on. It’s a fundamental of football now so the players who struggle will be replaced over time.Yes, for this reason, I believe Kamara at centre back is a possibility in the future, but only when we have all the necessary ball-playing and possession-based players in midfield.I brought up this point in the Kamara thread but it seemed lost on some and didn't seem to follow that I was saying he could play there and it's where I think he'd be most comfortable , not that he should right now.The wonderful think is he is a player that can recieve the ball and retain it and Emery would want more players like this.Nothing was lost on anybody. People just had a different opinion to you. This is a forum. It happens…

Obviously it’s early days, & I don’t want to get carried away only for Villa to spectacularly break my heart again, as per the norm, but he really does look like he knows what he is doing. It’s fabulous to see tactics. It’s incredible to see an actual team. And this is with another persons squad. I’m trying to imagine what it’s like with his own players… Only time will tell if this positivity lasts, but early on, he looks like an actual football manager…

People just had a different opinion to you. This is a forum. It happens…Yes, I understand about that whole viewpoint thing and people differ. However, I haven't heard a lot of opinions to the discussion regarding how effective Kamara would be as a centre half in Emery's system. He would be fantastic. Do you agree or disagree that he wouldn't make a decent centre back? Nobody was ready to consider or respond but instead create a narrative about daft nonsense claiming I was suggesting moving him into defense right now! Or just ho on about him as a midfielder.I do wonder if people are even aware he's a midfielder and a defender.Actually, so it was lost by some because you and others believed I was saying Kamara should be playing centre back at this time. It was the mistake by yourselves, and many seemed to think that was the only thing that was being said. Though i'm sure your'll understand that happens as you say its a forum.I stand by my assertion that he would make a great centre half and that he possesses all the necessary qualities. That struck me as more of a standalone entity than in the whole concept of team line up right now.And it's interesting that people are seeing how we play out from the back here on Emery's thread, which is exactly part of the message in the discussion I tried to open up about Kamara playing at centre back and clearly wasnt understood by you and others due to the responses given.

You're not familiar with Emery and his accomplishments?Well, he's proven, so I'm not in the camp of questioning him with 'early days' talk or other statements like he looks like an actual football manager, as I was very familiar with Emery before he came to Villa. However, because this is a forum like you had to tell me??, there will be differing points of view or a lack of awareness at times like on your or others' part about Emery as a football manager. He is well-known in football. So rest assured that he will only benefit us.He has my full support with his systems, lineups, and whatever he chooses.Pablo, have a happy new year! With this guy, yes the FA Cup is a real possibility.

But none of those have been made at Villa & I have been a Villa fan long enough to never expect things to go well. We have a long & sorry history of building up expectations only to destroy our hearts with spectacular failure. Which is why I am a little tentative with any positive expectations.
it's great to have a manager that is actually using coaching and tactics to win games and improve players. It's been years since we could say this.
I like absolutely everything I've seen so far from Unai....apart from that shiny coat.

While waiting for the last 3 subs to come on, he had a full tactical discussion with Mings (from distance), and you could see this was something planned and discussed at training, as Mings walked away with nods and full understanding of who was going where and for why.It has been so long since I've seen this in game management that I can't remember who was the last manager able to do this? Not everything he does will work, but with his record to date, there should be more success than failure. Looking forward to the next few years with U.E. in charge.
How are we lining up with/without the ball? On the TV graphics they suggest we’re playing 442 but neither McGinn or Buendia strike me wide players in a traditional 442, plus Bailey is arguably a winger rather than a striker.
