While waiting for the last 3 subs to come on, he had a full tactical discussion with Mings (from distance), and you could see this was something planned and discussed at training, as Mings walked away with nods and full understanding of who was going where and for why.

It has been so long since I've seen this in game management that I can't remember who was the last manager able to do this?

As you say harder challenges to come but I’m sure that will be something Emery will continue to work on. It’s a fundamental of football now so the players who struggle will be replaced over time.

I agree at times we are not good enough to do this but it’s creating an identity, style and system we’ve all been craving for. We’re going to make mistakes no doubt, but like Chris says these players who are not suited to this will be replaced I’m sure.

Spuds away, lets face it is one of the more difficult games for us. OK, they were not good, but we still had to beat them. Their position in the league shows there are many more easier matches than y-day.

Yes, for this reason, I believe Kamara at centre back is a possibility in the future, but only when we have all the necessary ball-playing and possession-based players in midfield.
I brought up this point in the Kamara thread but it seemed lost on some and didn't seem to follow that I was saying he could play there and it's where I think he'd be most comfortable , not that he should right now.
The wonderful think is he is a player that can recieve the ball and retain it and Emery would want more players like this.

Obviously it’s early days, & I don’t want to get carried away only for Villa to spectacularly break my heart again, as per the norm, but he really does look like he knows what he is doing. It’s fabulous to see tactics. It’s incredible to see an actual team. And this is with another persons squad. I’m trying to imagine what it’s like with his own players… Only time will tell if this positivity lasts, but early on, he looks like an actual football manager…
