I've been reading around and in some quarters there's a perception that Emery is an excellent cup manager but not a league manager.  Fine by me, we're not going win it anyway but progress and a couple of trophies will do me very nicely.

That's my point.  He's only won one league in his career but he has an exceptional cup record.

He's spent ten years coaching in Spain though, at Valencia, Sevilla and Villarreal, three clubs who are nowhere near breaking the Barcelona/Real Madrid duopoly. Villareal are a relatively small club over there aren't they? 28,000 seater stadia and no big name players.
