Not trying to jinx this or start a debate, but in terms of a genuine big managerial name, our biggest appointment since O’Neil. Trying to compare the two at all, just in terms of the ‘name’. Really genuinely excited by this.
Atkinson, I'd say.

He completes his Villa treble. Sevilla, Villareal and the real Villa. I'm seriously buzzed about this, bust out the trumpets.

"The Villa" will do.

Wolves fans on Molineux Mix lamenting why they didn’t get him when they are obviously much bigger.

Or as another put it (they're not happy on there tonight).

Quote from: CustardMix
First time I’ve been jealous of a rival’s appointment.

Track record of longevity and success pretty much everywhere he’s been, along with experience in the Premier League. And annoyingly, a thoroughly nice and decent person to go with it (always enjoy it a bit more when our rivals have some arrogant arsehole who is a bit easier to hate).

Last November we appointed a manager with little experience, today we have appointed a manager with over 900 games experience and he is a winner. Well done Villa. Welcome Unai.

WOW!!; this is a major statement as to the direction the owners are wanting the club to go.
Emery is that step below the level and status of Pep, Klopp, Zidane et al.

I'm sure he was mentioned as a manager Newcastle's new wealthy owners were trying to attract.

A very interesting and exciting appointment out the blue, and maybe the most significant appointment since GT 1987 in restoring the club name and reputation.

He turned Newcastle down apparently, for reasons unknown. Maybe he's got morals.

Family apparently.

Was it not because they were totally in the shit and looked certain for relegation. They didn't win a match until December.

Guillemot Balague reckons he wasn’t prepared to leave his son a year ago - no idea of age, family circumstances etc, but very pleased we have him.

Of the realistic options he seems the best suited to moving us on ( hopefully upwards, not down!)
