Don't forget he was apparently burned by his experience at Arsenal. I'm sure all managers have an ear to the ground about the goings on at Man U, and everywhere else, so would it actually be that attractive a proposition for him? Villa give him what I imagine is unparalleled freedom to manage a club as he sees fit.

On the one hand, you could say that Man Utd have already dropped out of the market for the very best managers (I can't see an Amorim figure being given carte blanche at Real Madrid or Liverpool), and while Emery isn't classed as elite because he hasn't won the European Cup, he's pretty damn close. It's entirely possible he sees himself as too good for them at the moment.

On the other hand, they're a big noise still, and being the one to revive them would speak quite loudly to the ego of the relevant party. Plus the money available and the gettable players would be a big attraction.

Ah fuck it, he's off.

It won’t happen for many reasons. But also because in the time Emery has been to clubs where the expectations of the club and fans demand instant success, he hasn’t delivered as quickly as they want. Emery is a builder. He need time to set in place his team, the surroundings and create his culture. That’s not what Man U will ever be able to provide him or anyone else. Between the nonsense behind the scenes and the entitlement of the supporters it couldn’t be any worse fit.

Emery would be a good fit for them, has CL club experience, mixed experiences at likes of PSG and Arsenal and then likes of ourselves, Villareal, Valencia and Sevilla. Making the best out of the resources he was given. He has seen it all and has constantly evolved as a coach.

For that exact reason, the circus at Old Trafford won't consider him. The latest flavour of the month like Iraola or Glasner will be in next and sink without a trace. Amorim was doomed about two games in when he kept playing the same formation regardless of the players he had. Eriksen/Casemiro in midfield from memory.

Emery wouldn't get the control he'd demand at Manchester United that he gets with us.

I was surprised he wasn't in the running for the Bayern and Barca jobs when they were going the summer before last. Long may him being overlooked continue.
