If we don't batter a 3rd division side with this line up then we may as well give up.

I remember a 3rd division club beating Man U in this competition - however it w :as about 51 years ago :)

A lot of Villa fans (my self included) have long said that we want to take the cups seriously and that the league cup is most realistic for us despite the past few winners. Gerrard has done that so I'm not sure it's fair for those with that viewpoint to then criticise him for picking a strong side. And if it builds confidence in some of our starters, all the better.

I agree. I’m glad he picked a strong side. I might have started Sanson and Cam but I can see what he’s trying to do - build rhythm and confidence. He’s got to a point with some fans that he will be criticised whatever he does
