Issue for me is that Coutinho and Ramsey had quiet pre-seasons and shouldn't be earning a start. The treatment of Mings may well backfire on SG.

If next Saturday doesn't have Mings in for Konsa, Emi in for Phil, Dougie for Ramsey and Watkins for Ings then we may again struggle. We are as always vulnerable from set pieces!

I was listening to Colin Murray on 5 Live this morning and he had a section on the weekend’s football. A Villa fan called in and basically said that he was unhappy with the moaning of our fans and that there was a massive overreaction to the game. He then said he stopped going to the game due to the whinging of fans, which was led by football fanzines.

That had me laughing and spluttering at the same time.

That was probably Fred F from this place. Or maybe Greg Gnash.

Why is it always the worst Villa fans, with views that you never hear any other Villa fans hold, that phone into radio stations?

Talksport are the worst, they always put the morons on as they think it makes good radio.

"Here's Dave from Birkenhead, what's your point Dave?"

"I think Klopp should be sacked, he's a rubbish manager."

"Dave, Dave, Dave, Dave. Dave. Have you been drinking?"

And so on.

In fairness, I'd like them to sack Klopp.

In my (thankfully rare) experience of phone-ins, when Villa fans call they only want to talk about England or why the current Manchester United manager should/shouldn't be sacked.

Can't really argue with him.

I can't listen to radio phone-ins any more, I just can't. If I'm listening to a show and they go to the phones it goes off.

Maybe the answer for me is in there, that it's not just the worst Villa fans phoning in but actually just the worst people full stop that phone into radio stations.

The latest Holy Trinity episode is good as usual but his dissection of the first goal is thoroughly depressing. Mistake after mistake after mistake. The most annoying one (and I did not think about it at the time) is maybe Ramsay needlessly giving them the corner. What was he thinking.
