Apparently we played Fulham yesterday?  Do we know the score?

Agree with others here that we dosent look good as a team. Still get the results. Positive individual performances today fx Martineez,  Carlos, Kamara, Bailey, Couthino, Young!? and others of the substitutes.

I was yet again disappointed with Coutinho, one free kick apart. It's obvious he's the first name to go on the team sheet and I guess we'll just have to get used to it.

We did, which is why Archer and Ings only got a few minutes game time today.

Thanks Legion.  I saw that the likes of Mings, Traore etc weren't in the squad today, can't help feeling that Gerrard would be happy to see them go. Unless Tyrone got a knock.

I couldn't watch the game but here is what I read on the web site of l'équipe. " Rennes played well at times agaisnt a promising Villa team on paper and already impressive on the pitch"".
Anyway, happy with the win.

Agree, he’s a class act and some of the things he does are brilliant but he doesn’t show it often enough for me, whether it’s him or the system doesn’t suit I’m not sure. On current form and taking into account the last few games last season it should be Buendia and Bailey.
Buendia’s got a goal threat, creativity and work rate but as you say Phil will no doubt get the nod.

I like Emi B, and think he can be a cracking player, but was it 8 goals Coutinho was involved with (either scoring or assisting) in 19 games ish last year? There might be a perception that he’s less involved because he doesn’t charge around, but the idea that he’s not key is just nuts.

I like Sanson. He gets stuck in and has a bit of energy about him, I reckon we'll see a fair amount of him this year - esp with the 5 subs thing.
I liked him before it was popular.

Don’t think you’re too wrong with those stats, I remember he had a stormer (against Southampton?) where he scored a couple missed a few other great chances and got an assist. Think it’s just frustrating on my part as he’s got everything but the consistency isn’t there, however I suppose if it was, he wouldn’t be playing for us.
Hopefully he’s still building up fitness and confidence as he’s clearly one  SG’s main men.

He was amazing against Southampton.  He’s a brilliant player - think he like the rest of the team just feel like they need a bit of a spark to light and give it all that but extra

It all looks good and the results have been good in pre season - but just feels it needs a little something to create that swagger in the team that is currently missing

Has Guilbert gone?

Training with the kids from what I read. Chucky and Traore seem to have joined him.

Phil is not helped by having Watkins in front for him, he just doesn't read Phil's play. I wonder if we could play Phil, Emi B and Bailey across the front and drop Watkins and Ings to the bench.Of course the time to try that would have been pre-season, which just ended.
