Maybe it’s a make your own crest
Like Make your own pizza instead of getting it from dominoes

Just colour it in yourself
Everyone’s a winner

Toronto would be happy with that apparently. But only because he wants to be happy.

It’s only a shit badge for those who think it’s a shit badge and want to get angry about it. The majority won’t give a fuck as long as the team is winning.

Not sure about that.

It's perfectly possible to be happy with things on-pitch and genuinely think it's a shit badge (and, for clarity, cards on the table, i think it's hideous) without doing so because you just want to be angry.

You need to accept people will disagree with you, telling them they're just doing so because they want to be angry is a bit shit, really.

I’m not telling anyone how to feel. Nor am I asking anyone to agree with me. But for some it’s very black and white. The badge is shit. That’s fine if that’s how they want to feel. I happen to think most won’t really give it a lot of thought beyond its release.

Err, that's not what you said though, you said they "want to get angry about it" which is a totally different thing to acknowledging some don't like it, you're suggesting they're opting to say they don't because they have some desire to 'be angry'.

Certified member of the happy club here, always glass half full and in defensive mode regarding Emery and the team.

But I am very unimpressed with the way the club;s branding has been handled and the handling of the redevelopment over the past 6 months so absolutely not a case of 'want to get angry', I hate being in this position but I hate these two decisions.

I'd really prefer to like the new badge.

But that's not possible, unfortunately, because I've seen it.

The round one we have now is shit, but it was way better than that gaslamp monstrosity.

The new one isn't much, though I like the detailed lion, and it faces the right way. And it's preferable to the Lerner one.

We will, inevitably, get used to it.

That’s how opinions work. Some people have strong opinions about something, and some people don’t. It sounds like you don’t have a strong opinion about the badge, whereas other people do. People who do have a strong opinion about the badge can’t do anything about it either way because it’s a fait accompli. Being resigned to it isn’t the same as not giving it a lot of thought beyond its release.

If we don't make Champions League, this whole reveal is going to be very underwhelming.

No it won't.

It'll be disappointing, yeah of course, but we're finishing at worst fifth, so Europa League at the absolute worst.

I meant in the sense that it feels like they've delayed this reveal, after promising it much earlier in the year. Presumably to do a big launch tied into us winning the Conference League and/or qualifying for Champions League next season. If we've been pipped to 4th after losing in the SF, it's going to feel a little underwhelming.

Of course, there's the possibility the delay was because we ended up with a new kit supplier and a new sponsor, and they just decided to do a big reveal of all 3 at the end of the season, and it's not at all themed around Conference or Champions League. In which case, it'll be fine.

Whether you like the badge or not, and everybody who I've spoken to absolutely loathes the new one, the point is there's a process that clubs are supposed to follow when changing heritage assets, and the club (or Heck to be more precise) very much haven't done that. At least under Purslow they pretended to have a consultation even if it was intended to influence the final outcome. Now they've just abandoned that badge, taken the already shit Lerner badge and made it worse, and said "here's what you're getting, suck it up."

It does seem a very arrogant approach to this whole thing. I’m not sure what worse though, a complete disregard to the fans or a the pretence of considering the fans and then disregarding them.

Has the new badge been announced yet then, or is it pretty much accepted that that’s the one we’re going with?

I think it's poor, and has too many reminders of the post O'Neill era. There are two badges I like 1: the current one that Heck wants to get rid of (btw I really really really don't get the fuss about the Lion pointing the wrong way) 2: The hoola-hooping Hippo which is how I imagine a badge designed by the Goons would look like. Oh, and it's starting to remind me of Heck.

Was going to ask a similar thing. Is there a pic of the hateful new badge? Apols, I've dipped in and out of thread.

By the way, that Bad English one has the wrong claret.

It seems to have pinkeye, bloody hell, another new injury to contend with FFS!
