Great comeback. Most frustrating thing was the amount of times villa players were winning the ball back or turning out of trouble, then passing it straight back to a Utd player. That will be drilled out of them soon, and feel we’re in for a ride!

Re. Cash. I’ve been a bit outspoken about him recently, but that’s only because Gerrard’s tactics have really exposed his main weakness - Distribution.
If we played with a rigid back 4 and a more traditional RB, he’d be perfect, but as an attacking wingback he’s offering hardly anything in the final third.

I hope he can improve in this area, as he’s definitely not short of effort, but compare how dangerous Digne was on the other flank and it’s night and day.

Also a special shout-out to Emi Buendia. He was a man mountain tonight. Been improving game on game and now looks the real deal. My MOTM

First 30 minutes was likely the worst I’ve seen Villa play this season.

Improved in the last few minutes of the first half and were the better team all second half apart from another brain fart goal.

Makes a difference when you can bring on a player like Philly.

Emi2 is winning me over now.

The persistence of playing both Ings and Watkins has to end.

Good point there.

For years we've lacked a genuine gamechanger off the match and showed the value of one tonight.

Now of course Coutinho will go into first 11 as soon as possible but I suspect that's the role Bailey will have rest of the season if he can ever get himself fully fit.

Probably makes sense for us to have him as impact sub rest of the season while we work out how to get him into the team and of course less minutes means less chance of another muscle injury.

They bossed it for half an hour mainly due to their control of the midfield. We missed Mc Gunn’s energy in that area. Even so, it was abundantly clear we needed to change it. Ings and Watkins together doesn’t work.  One is a good finisher and little else the other is less so but has plenty of energy. These two should be competing for the one position as it proved when it eventually changed. We took the game then.  As others have said, Bundia MOM, Ramsey excellent 2nd half. Sanson good too the bad back for their 2nd apart. Cash too was good….had a mare someone said??? Mings decent overall and a good debut from Digne, he will improve us. Also, a good debut by Coutinho, limbs everywhere when he scored. Message to Villa fans around me, there is no ‘r’ in his name.

The ref was awful.

Shit first half hour, excellent rest of game.

Martinez - 5 (other than for the 1st goal would have been an 8).

Digne - 8 Great debut.

Mings - 8 Good game.

Konsa - 6 Not his best game, but hopefully not badly injured.

Cash - 6 Hit and miss again.

Luiz - 3 Pointless.

Ramsey - 7 Shit 1st half but excellent 2nd half.

Sanson - 7 Would have been higher without the 2nd goal. Getting better and better.

Buendia 9 - superb all game.

Ings 2 - Needs dropping.

Watkins - 3 Also needs dropping or at least one of them does.

Coutinho 10 - brilliant 15 minutes.

Hause 7 - played well.

Chuck - 8 Good cameo

9 times out of 10 we win that game with that performance. Unlucky Martinez made an uncharacteristic blunder. We will beat Everton comfortably.

I’m amazed how you give Luiz, Watkins and Ings such low marks makes me smile with sorrow. Luiz worked his socks off to track Fernandez, Watkins covered loads of ground to try and pull space for midfield, even Ings, though not great put a shift in…honestly just support

I wouldn't give Luiz a 3, but thought he was mostly a bit poor, and a 5/10 tops. Ing would get a 3, Watkins 5 because he at least shows some effort.

First half, not great at all even if it was only a fuck up that put us a goal behind. Second half, much better. I thought Chucky made a difference when he came on. He seemed to give us a bit more bite in the middle. He really does look a cracking player. Bendy was great as well. Digne had a very decent second half too.

Overall, a game we should have won and definatley didn't deserve to lose.

Still far too many games this season where we've taken an age to get going.  Much better in the second half,  but still extremely lucky to get out of that with a point given how bad the first half was.

Better sided than United would have had that game won after an hour.

I think the midfield just missed the tempo that McGinn sets from the start.  Doesn't always work.  The three that started today are nice, tidy, ball playing midfielders and they were ruffled first half.  They were more aggressive second though.  Overall it was great to come back and take points off them.  That United side was there for the taking, but in the circumstances it has to be a confidence booster going into Everton and Leeds.
