Brentford, a town in West London we never knew existed until 5 or so years ago.

Now it’s nylon impossible to forget it.

There was a local Brum (punk?) band called Brent Ford and the Nylons. My step dad has got a poster of them from his uni days.

Ex-player rants.

Lescott: Professed to be a Villa fan yet always seemed to take great delight every time he scored against us. Tesco bags happy to let us have him which should have been a warning sign. Proceeded to show he was now well out of his depth at the top level in the most inept and atrocious Villa side in my memory before moving to his level in the lower echelons of Greek football. Plus the tweet from his phone whilst driving.

Micah Richards: Another of the alumni of 2015/16. Seemed like a potentially good idea until he was to play him at centre back. Unclear how he passed his medical. Straight off the bat, I don’t blame him for taking the full period of his contract. That’s on the club for offering it to him. Where I do blame him is turning victim once he retired immediately after the contract expired in an attempt to justify taking the money, even when we were facing potential bankruptcy.

Fabian Delph: Self explanatory although extra credit is required for such a bang average player with one good season behind him and a poor injury record getting many of us so riled up.

Gareth Southgate: Slapped in a transfer request citing a lack of ambition and wanting to move to a bigger club from the club that helped turn him from an average midfielder into an international centre back in 6 months. Ended up at Middlesborough being managed by Steve Mcclaren and somehow makes it feel as though HE hasn’t forgiven us.

Ross McCormack: Pathetic.

Craig Gardner: Once it was clear he was never going to be much of a player suddenly remembered he was a bluenose all along. Something quite correct about that.

Charles Inzogbia: Had seemingly retired from football until Sherwood found him down the back of a sofa. Played a couple of good games and retired for good during the 2015 FA Cup final.

Gareth Barry: Want to know how to damage 10 years of good work in about 10 minutes one summer? Ask him. The club he wanted to join didn’t really even want him.

Joe: The worst offender of the lot. Was supposed to be one of us. Showed who he was by trying to leave 3 times and making the biggest move of his career the least challenging. From a club where he was worshipped, team news centred around his playing and the side was built around maximizing his ability to a club who have consistently cherry picked our best players, where he barely sees the ball and who’s fans couldn’t give a sh*t if he plays or not. Yet is miffed by this turn of events.

Buying the best players from relegated clubs. Constantly buying players under 6ft tall to compete in the most physically demanding league on the planet. VAR and it’s different interpretations for Top 6 clubs. Spurs even being called a top 6 club. The FA Cup and our square ball. Endless years of utter shite, ill fitting, unavailable kits. Midday kick offs. Shit food, shit beer at the ground. Randomness of TV screens in stands. Citeh, Chelsea blatantly just ignoring the rules, with Newcastle to follow.

Still wouldn’t give it up though.

Always good for a goal against SHA and could be deadly in the MON meat & potatoes tactical set up. Seemingly in a permanent sulk after MON left, until his career ended when he lost his pace. Awful second half to his Villa career when he often phoned it in but for which he was rewarded with new contract after new contract (that's 'loyalty' Gabby). Abdicated from helping the team and club when he was needed most, preferring to head to Dubai and entertaining ladies in hotels as ‘his’ ship was sinking. When it’s the same problem with 4 or 5 different managers, you should start to think ‘maybe it’s me?’

A man even more tone deaf than Joe, he’s built an entire life on the day he made a beeline to get Maradona’s shirt after England had been cheated out of a World Cup thus demonstrating where his head was really at whilst his team and supporters suffered. A shot across the bows to Villa fans that this self absorbed mercenary would help rely on bad back passes to get what he wanted most in life. Thought he was too big for us and told us so. The fact that he forced a move away at a time in the game where clubs decided where footballers went or didn’t go speaks volumes.

Anyone who says ‘playing between the lines’ needs locking up for eternity. If not longer.

I'd like to rant about you lot and this thread.
OK so we lost to a club normally so low down the football pyramid that even in the early 70s we didn't need to play them.
Now you all want Gerrard sacked. Before he arrived none of you wanted him here and you said you were underwhelmed, but we get him so you all say you're whelmed, he gets a couple of results and you're all overwhelmed and we're heading for the chumps league. But now we lose to Fulham reserves (again) and you're all weepy about the good old days with Deano.
That highly respected Arsenal legend David O'Leary was right, you're all fickle !
Bit of a sweeping statement is this.
