I thought Bidace was selfish at times when he was looking to score a goal instead he should have passed the ball to another player

Chuck did well on the occasions he had the ball, Archer took his goals well (especially the 2nd) but will need to work on his hold up play as a forward

It will be interesting to see how their careers progress - personally I think only Chuck has a long term future with us, the rest will make a decent living in the Championship or Division 1
That's called confidence. He had a great game.

I totally agree.  A great prospect.

Excellent day out.

Travelled up from Oldham with BorderVillan.

Had tickets for the Ray Wilkie Stand (the one with Sky cameras on the roof) - bought online from the Barrow online ticket site

Great pre- match beers and scoff sitting in the beer garden at the Bay Horse Hawcoat about a mile and a half  out of
 town.

Decent enough view in line with the penalty box - changed ends at half time so we were at the ends that Villa attacked both halfs.

Top quality pies at h-t.

As the game went on, amused as the home supporters attitude changed from hopeful, to resigned, disconsolate and then angry as they decided that  every that went against them was an injustice and every Villa tackle a blatant foul. (I can recall feeing the same way when we got outclassed in days gone by).

Great sound made by the Villans sqieezed into the away supporters section - easily out shouted the home fans.

A full house should have generated a top atmosphere,  but going 2 down early on put the kibosh on that  and  the home fans didn't really get behind their team. Not surprising - the average attendance is only 1,300, so Iguess that a good two thirds of the home fans were day trippers.

The only downside was the journey home being buggered up by M6 roadworks and closure of the M61.

I was expecting worse so was pleasantly surprised at how quickly we  got through all of them. Still home by half midnight so all good.

Of those on show and the cameo on Saturday I think Bidace will be the one pushing for a starting place before long.  He's an excellent prospect.  I love the way he makes room for himself to get a shot on goal.  I was under the impression he was a local lad but see that he comes from London.  Obviously one that Chelsea must have let slip through the net.

I think that’s a bit harsh. Looking at them last night and of course against Liverpool and in the Final last season I think it’s fairly obvious that at last we’re doing something right at Bodymoor Heath and several of the players will be in contention during this season and onwards. Game time like last night is important in their development and Smith deserves credit for playing them

Only just noticed that Mark Cooper didn’t even look Dean Smith in the face when shaking hands at the end.

It’s just engrained in them.

Barrow is a tough place to grow up and work in. By all accounts the fans were really respectful on both sides, he did look a miserable fecker though.

Before when we’ve fielded a reserve side in the cup there’s no continuity between the way our first team play and the rest of the reserves or youth sides.

You could see last night we’ve got a similar game plan throughout the whole set-up now, so if a youth, U’23 or fringe player comes into the first team it’s not at all as disjointed as it’s been in the past. Dare I say it, but are we actually really building something quite special here?

The style of play is implemented throughout the Academy at every age level.

You can tell. It’s really exciting to believe we finally have a plan/model and we are becoming a very professional team after years of absolute chaos.

Probably just pissed of at the result, although I was thinking when he was interviewed before the game, that his dad Terry Cooper, ex Leeds player and blues manager, died last week or the week before.

No, by “them”, I meant being a “nose”. Nothing to do with Barrow or the people.

Proper throwback game this. Also probably the only time I've managed to drink a pint while watching football.

The little shed at the back was selling beers right into injury time.

Very comprehensive and professional performance. I think we have some genuine quality coming through. Passed the ball well and we were very clinical. I had a few worries that there was only a pair of first teamers in the squad.

It reminded me of the Odense or Vienna European aways in some respects. Beautiful drive up and then you hit quite possibly the biggest dump I've ever been to that is Barrow. Where pubs don't open on Tuesday nights, where there's hyperdermic needles on the floor outside the library and where fortunately the Spoons was decent enough.

Singing only 2 Chuckwuemekas, adopting the Kolo/Yaya You're song for the Ramsey brothers who were clearly loving it. The sun set, the friendly atmosphere, the novelty. Just a very good away day.

The polar opposite to that league cup away day at Luton under RDM not too long ago. Likes of Richards not trying a leg and jokers like Okore at CB literally kicking them into the net. That was close enough to rock bottom. Any hint we would quickly bounce back was nailed that day. On paper it wasn't the worst team, the 100m man was playing for example.
