I thought Bidace was selfish at times when he was looking to score a goal instead he should have passed the ball to another player

Chuck did well on the occasions he had the ball, Archer took his goals well (especially the 2nd) but will need to work on his hold up play as a forward

It will be interesting to see how their careers progress - personally I think only Chuck has a long term future with us, the rest will make a decent living in the Championship or Division 1

Good to see you enjoying the moment 🤣🤣🤣

Obviously not everyone will make it at Villa but at this point you have to say Chukwuemeka, Philagene-Bidace, Ramsey x 2, Barry, Kessler, Archer after the brilliant kick start to his Villa career last night & Young have made a case to a future here.  Personally on what seen so far Chrisene is the one who actually excites me the most.  The future is in their own hands, if they get loan or first team opportunities they have to take them & more importantly they need the right people behind them advising them on their career path not the £’s.

I have to confess that I was a little worried when I saw the lineup (and bench) last night, but Dean has clearly got an awful lot of faith in these kids and you can see why. I appreciate the caution when it comes to getting too excited about young players - we have seen so many 'promising' players come through the youth team but it's so rare that they become first team players. This group does feel different though. The sheer number of quality players at that level, that we have genuine high hopes for, surely puts the odds in our favour. Of course, there are plenty that won't make it - all it takes is a couple of bad injuries (remember when Gary Gardner was going to be the next big thing?), an attitude problem or just not growing enough physically and they could struggle. But every player you mention there has got a really good chance of making it, and if two or three of them actually do become first team regulars it will be one of the most successful youth teams in our history.

We're doing things the right way - playing them in a higher age group, integrating them into the first team squad and shipping them out to get first team football. We're giving them all the best opportunity possible, and the rest is up to them.

Incidentally, and this may have been mentioned elsewhere, but the team selection last night is looking like a stroke of genius. Not only did we get the win, with plenty of first team experience for our kids, but we've also shown every 15/16/17 year old in the country that if you come to Villa, and you're good enough, you will get chances to play with the first team.

Not sure why we need to get hung up about who will make it and who wont. Last night a team took the field wearing Claret and Blue and did the represented the club brilliantly. There were some excellent performances out there from both seniors and youth sometimes under quite a lot of physical hostility. The destination is important but so is enjoying the journey. UTV.

You must be proud mate having sung his praise since he was out of nappies. That 6th goal was a wonder pass and move. Cameron will find it much harder with better opposition, but like the others-seems ready for the challenge. One thing you can say about all of them; they love to play football.

Think that's where MON made a big mistake back in the day. Replacing the likes of Cahill and Davis with more experienced journeymen. Seeing youth players getting through to the first team can really energise an entire club. It's something Ferguson did well, even with the likes of Fletcher, Brown and O'Shea. Smith has also done well in giving the likes of Jacob Ramsey a path into the first team squad over the likes of Hourihane who had done very well for us. Imagine the boost last night will have done for our entire youth setup.

Yeah, I think you're bang on there.  It's something I'd hoped we'd do.  You want it - as you'd said - that when you're approaching 15/16/17 year old prospects you can show them there's a clear path in to the first team - from making their debut, to starting to establish themselves, through to being one of the first names on the team sheet.

If we can do that, and get in to Europe, you can sell them the whole farm-to-fork type dream.  If they sign for Villa at 15, they'll be given the best coaching, and if they impress they'll be making their debut at 18, establishing themselves in the first team squad by the time they're 20, and potentially be playing regular football in the Premier League and across Europe by the time they hit their early 20s.  And then hopefully go on to play for England, or whatever their ambition happens to be.

Not sure why we need to get hung up about who will make it and who wont. Last night a team took the field wearing Claret and Blue and did the represented the club brilliantly. Spot on.

Half of this is probably just because I'm a Villa supporter, so coloured by our level of success.  But I think we're really lucky to support a club who might win stuff, but mostly don't.  The thing people actually enjoy is the anticipation.  It's the hours, days, weeks, months, years spent daydreaming.  It's the fact that you know deep down that it probably won't happen, but there's the slight chance that it might.  It's the decades of it going wrong, but you just know that this time it's going to go right.

So yeah, the chances of us having 4 or 5 youth team players break through within a couple of years is low.  We all know that.  But it's the dream/hope that it might happen this time.  Just enjoy the possibility, have a bit of a daydream about the time a brummie Villa supporter finally lifts the European Cup (again) as captain.  I thought maybe we had one of those recently, but weirdly he's decided to go be a clothes model in Manchester instead.  Still, it's of no consequence - we're winning the European Cup anyway and if he'd rather another Birmingham-born Villa fan lift it instead, that's OK.

Easy for you to say, but not so much when your £5 33/1 bet builder is in mortal danger from a dreaded consolation goal and Barrow go and get a late throw-in.

Lovely away trip, even with eight and half hours on a train there and back.
Had to pick up a duplicate ticket from the club reception, and it was really good to see the club shop doing a roaring trade – too many of the kids around the ground were wearing Man U shirts, so hope at least a few have picked up the bug for their local team.
All very easy-going in town, and loads of locals who were impressed with the Villa youth.
Comfortably one of the weirdest away ends out there – with the side bit of terrace where you come in, then a block of seats, with another block of terracing just inside the penalty area. And special mention to the roof they built last year, which somehow still manages to have the most amount of pillars of any structure known to man.
It's also not every day you get the half time entertainment of a bloke up a ladder trying to re-affix a tube light – left hanging after being walloped by a wayward Barrow shot in the first half.
Checking out of the hotel this morning, all the guy on reception wanted to talk about was that through ball for our sixth – absolute peach of a pass, without looking, that left three defenders wondering what day it was. The future is very definitely bright.

You could say that our first team, 'B' team and youth team won 2-0, 6-0 and 10-0 respectively in the last 4 days. Bodymoor Heath must be buzzing this morning.

Good to see Guilbert get a game. I may be in a minority but I think he’s a good player. He had a real rough patch before lockdown when the defence was conceding two a game but has generally done ok for us. He’s probably the best overlapping full back we have, although Cash is a better defender. Not that much in it though.

Just looks like Smith doesn’t rate him unfortunately.

I've just found out that my neighbour was the fourth official last night! Can't remember seeing him, ovbiously, but then I wasn't looking for him.
