My gut feeling is that if we do need to sell someone for £50-100m to keep the books ticking over it might actually be Bailey.

His stock is probably never going to be higher than it is right now, he plays in a style and position that rich clubs always are interested in signing, he's the ideal age and it's not impossible that he's just having an Amr Zaki / Roque Santa Cruz season.

I mean, I don't want to be all "called it"...

I don't disagree, but I think you need to put a couple of decimal poimts in those values. Even Saudi teams can't be that stupid.

Most people, me and you included I think, thought Bailey was better than Diaby last season. So if we got £60 million for Diaby doesn't seem impossible we'd have got at least £50 million for Bailey if we'd cashed in this summer.

Of course, we'd be lucky to get ten quid and a packet of fig rolls at the minute.

Thought he was better than of late first half, personally. Couple of nice confidence building touches, including one great turn on the touchline. Low comparison basis, but still, better.

Anyway, I'd be picking Broggio against Palace.

At the same time you were saying there was no chance his good form was going to drop off following his new contract.

So I'm guessing you wouldn't have been selling him for whatever amount those decimal points are bringing in.

Agreed but once he messed up a few times in the second half his body language suggested he wanted to come off. Self belief is so brittle.

Nobody believes this guy is fully fit. It's clear as day he's got some sort of niggling injury that just won't shift.

He did some decent stuff tonight, not convinced he’s fit but when you see Philogene come on you see why he’s playing.

I think this is exactly it. But we’re weaker in this part of the pitch then we were last season.

Well, I don't think that his poor form is because of of the contract, which is what was being implied.

Some niggling injury that’s been going on for 3 months? Nope, just bereft of confidence and the lack of contribution is there for all to see.

Confidence player when he’s on it he’s great.  When he’s not he’s horrendous.  Haven’t heard from his dad lately.  I think he needs to get his hair cut again and see if things change.
