Bailey this season has 7 assists at Villa Park.
That's the most assists by any Player at their home ground.

If you go with all competitions rather than just league games (as we have with the 102 goals for the season stat) then the numbers are even more ridiculous:

Watkins Played 47 Goals 26 Assists 12
Bailey P 47 G 14 A 13
Luiz P 47 G 10 A 10
Diaby P 48 G 9 A 7
McGinn P 47 G 9 A 7

It's realistic right now that we could end the season with 5 players hitting double figures for goals and assists.

Isn’t it 101 Paul?

I only ask because I’ve been trying to keep track since we flew out of the blocks with 12 against Hibs and Everton (and 1 against Newcastle that we don’t talk about).

This is what I’ve got:

Goals 101

Watkins 26
Bailey 14
Luiz 10
McGinn 9
Diaby 9
Duran 6
Cash 5
Moreno 3
Zaniolo 3
Torres 2
Tielemans 2
Digne 2
Rogers 2
Carlos
Kamara
Ramsey
Dendonker
Konsa

That’s what I calculated. It seems though that Sky isn’t counting the Conference qualifiers when they posted about Arsenal first to 100 goals this season.

Ridiculous. Competitive games.

Could be, I could've sworn I saw something saying 102 but I never checked it.

With the most assists at home in the premier league Bailey starting tonight will definitely be in and amoung our goal situations.
Come on LB!

Right from the start of the game he was very good. Multiple times he ran and ticked down the flank and their left back (the one with too much hair) was having a very difficult time ( and the dizziness from all that might have contributed to him taking part in our first goal).

He looks troubled by a thigh injury, shame Diaby is so out of form as it would be good to have given him a rest and the injury to heal.

This was off fb, and I haven’t “fact checked “ it but the style it’s written makes me think  it’s true.

And it’s staggering numbers really

“Here’s an interesting stat; in his last season at the Villa, a 26 year-old Jack Grealish had 17 goal involvements (7 goals, 10 assists) in 2,275 minutes - an involvement every 133.8 minutes of football. It was ultimately what paved the way for City to spend £100,000,000 on him. This season, a 26 year-old Leon Bailey has 28 goal involvements (14 goals, 14 assists) in 3,022 minutes - one every 107.9 minutes. Yet, very few people (outside the club and fanbase) are talking about this. His numbers are insane and on par if not better than the best in the league, and yet all we hear about is Cole Palmer, Garnacho, Doku, Martinelli… not enough love for the man from Jamaica 🇯🇲”

It is.

Ollie Watkins is on an involvement every 104 across all comps. (98.9 minutes in the Premier League)
Diaby is 161.
Luiz is 200.
Rogers 245 for us (141 across whole season)
Zaniolo 449
Duran 160

To the tune of Redemption Song, Bob Marley and the wailers ...

Leon Bailey plays for Villa,
in the Premiership,
he's got a wicked left foot,
and he's fucking quick.

He was lightweight now he's made strong,
by the hand of Unai Emery,
now he's fighting like a lion,
triumphantly.

Won't you help me sing ...
Leon Bailey

You are Leon Bailey's dad , and I claim my fiver. To be fair , it's better than the current jingle we sing about him.

We were on this last week and Joe C made the suggestion that there are surely loads of songs with the word ‘Baby’ in them that could be converted to ‘Bailey’.

Our consensus was that Too good to be true by Andy Williams has potential…

Something like….

We love you Bailey and if it’s quite alright
We need you Bailey running down the right…
We love  you Bailey
Trust in me when I say
We need you Bailey don’t let me down I pray
We need you Bailey now that we’ve found you stay..
Yes we love you Bailey yes we love you…
…& then it goes into that Der da der da derdadada bit…

It could almost be the new DwightYorke  Dwight Yorke!

I remember being in a pub in London 20 years or so ago, I think for the Chelsea game, and we were singing this for Juan Pablo Angel. The first words were something like

Juan Pablo Angel, you’re not just alright
Juan Pablo Angel, you’re fucking dynamite

Never caught on. But it was brilliant for 30 minutes.

That would be a great couple of first lines for this too!

Actually maybe ‘Oh Leon Bailey’ instead of we love you Bailey is also better I think!

…..but generally pleased to get a few positive responses from the tough H&V crowd.

So…
Oh Leon Bailey you’re not just alright
Oh Leon Bailey you’re fucking dynamite
Oh Leon Bailey trust in me when I say
Oh Leon Bailey din’t let me down I pray
Oh Leon Bailey Now that we’ve found you stay
Cos we love you Bailey yes we love you!

Derdaderda…...

Onto something? - definitely better than that mumble mumble Jamaica one anyway!
