That's why I said, "Regardless of intention or interpretation.." He could have just said, I'm not interested in moving and I'm loving my time at Villa, again. Instead, he gives a non-answer which will just drive further speculation.

Would've just preferred if he said, "Why tf would I go to Chelsea right now?!"

Name me one player anywhere who has stated anything like the above. You will find it is the exception rather then the rule because it is a job in the end so why burn obvious places he could go*. However he gave the most diplomatic one which ended with not a definite no, but definitely not a yes which is what the headline from Meaning Evil has stated he said. Does MEN or the Newcastle Chronicle journos look at interviews like this and twist the words that player X is leaving. Why is it always our local journos who do that?

*He had also just praised Chelsea for taking a chance on  young Jamaican born player. Bailey's life story shows he knows how hard Jamaicans have it trying to play anywhere in Europe. So after praising that club for taking the chance, he wasn't going to then rubbish them 5 mins later.

Up there with Bacuna being asked a question and answering it honestly while showing zero disrespect to us. Still, some will find a way to get outraged.

...or we react to what evidence we have to hand and change our minds when we see more.

The evidence of a Meaning Evil headline. Surely we should know by now what they are like.

The quote still looked pretty poor on the page. Only the video makes it clear what he meant.

Not really Bailey's fault though. He wasn't writing his answers.

That interview was fascinating. Based on absolutely no evidence, I'd always assumed the Jamaican national team was treated okay. Not England levels of pampering, but okay. Jeez it sounds half-arsed. What is it that makes so many football administrators so inadequate?

Glad I've read this thread now after being misled by the Mail earlier.

I hate to say it, but journalists write stories in the hope people will read them. People tend not to click on headlines like: Villa star has lengthy discussion about the importance of exposure for players aiming to raise the profile of and opportunities for their homeland, contemporaries and kids.

That said: Villa star pays to play for national team is a way better and more original headline.

I would also have considered: Women's shirts, no shorts and cattle class flights: The life of a Premier League international.

Fair play to him, and I always thought he was the best one out of Bros anyway.

I wonder how many times we'd need to qualify for the CL before they stopped talking about the 'big 6'?  I don't think once would do it?  Maybe a few times.  In a row.

Some clubs will never be allowed into the click and we’re one of them. I hope for years we finish above some of them and we still don’t get referred by that obnoxious name. It would make me larf.

I remember the 'Big Five' in the late 80's/early 90's which contained Spurs and Everton who then routinely finished below us.

The way I saw it, the big two used to be Scouse and Manc Reds, then Wenger forced Arsenal into the mix before the Roubles forced Chelsea into the big four. Not sure when Citeh joined the ranks and whether it was before or after Spurs because they didn't get into the CL until at least 5 years after they became soaked in oil. At least all the other teams have won something during the period they joined in.
