I think if we dont get CL then he may consider his options like many other players if a CL club come in for him. But on the plus side for  avilla point  we will get big money for him

Still not the best quote but there we are.

Even then the quotes used in the paper are not stated the way it comes across in the interview.

Within the first 10 minutes of the interview here for anyone who wants to listen.

Players are always more loose-lipped when it's international week and their home press ask more direct questions about their career than they usually get when doing press for their club.

L'Equipe springs to mind where some of the French lads are more blunt (maybe Duran with a Colombian/Spanish outlet a few months ago too?).

I imagine Luiz, Bailey and maybe even Watkins/Martínez have release clauses in their recent contract renewals with Villa. If we don't get Champs League, some clubs will come calling for one/more of these players.

Regardless of intention or interpretation, it still hurts to hear Leon already considering his future when the ink has hardly dried. Could have simply shot it down but instead highlighted that, to him, we are second rate and he can elevate his platform even further. Fair play to him, as he has to do what's best for him.. but being that it's mid-season, I wish he would've been a little more respectful to the club.

He tried to initially, saying how happy he is at Villa.  But the interviewer pushed again and got the soundbite he wanted.

When your homegrown darling was desperate for a 'Big 6' move, it's hardly surprising other players think about it too.

Leon has had an exceptional season and whilst I think we will lose some players this summer I don't think he will be one of them.

Fucking hell, he never states he want to go to Chelsea at all. He explains about the he is already playing in the prem, that the big six are certain teams well known, that his dream is to spotlight Jamaican talent, and finally he finishes with "I don't know how to answer that question, we would have to see in the moment". Not once has he stated he wants to move in that. PLEASE watch the first 10 minutes where he is praising the club, the manager and getting tapping up Diaby as soon as he heard he was a target.

I think he might end up going. Tricky wingers are ten a penny these days, it's one of the easier positions to fill.

Top-class strikers and central midfielders are much harder to come by.

This happens all the time, nothing to worry about really. Let’s get a Champions League spot and then go from there.

Up there with Bacuna being asked a question and answering it honestly while showing zero disrespect to us. Still, some will find a way to get outraged.

And the less said about our local shitrag for trying to stir as usual the better.

That's why I said, "Regardless of intention or interpretation.." He could have just said, I'm not interested in moving and I'm loving my time at Villa, again. Instead, he gives a non-answer which will just drive further speculation.

Would've just preferred if he said, "Why tf would I go to Chelsea right now?!"

This exactly. I think Bailey comes across very well in that interview, and he was very respectful of Villa. The headlines are , basically, a misrepresentation. But no surprise there.

Listen to about 30 mins in when he's getting annoyed at the Jamaican national team, and goes in full on patois mode. It's weird. Good weird, but weird.

Well yeah but it’s obvious isn’t it, they want clicks and a nice story where Bailey says he’s happy will generate less clicks than one that says he’s looking elsewhere. People just shouldn’t click on it.
