As pleasing the contributions of both Trez and Davis were yesterday, neither are good enough for us to progress.
I'd disagree on both counts, with caveats. Davis needs to start a few games. He offers something different. However, he is starting to enter make-or-break territory now. The next 12 months will be massive for him.

I like Trez and think he's still got a role to play next season. That said, I think either him or AEG will need to move on in the summer, whilst we can still recoup what we've paid for them. For me, I'd keep Trez and flog AEG but I'd not be massively fussed if it was the other way round.
I don’t know what to say about Davis. While he looked good when he came on, I can’t see him being given a run in the team and therefore not able to develop. For me though, Trez and definitely AEG have reached their limit and if we want to progress then both will need replacing. At the outside Trez is a squad player despite yesterdays goals

Trez is a good player to have coming off the bench, especially against the lower placed teams.  His enthusiasm and energy gives us the boost required and takes advantage of a tiring opposition.  Don't think this is so advantageous if he starts the game.

Have there been any other games it's worked in this season, before yesterday?

It wasn't just the fact he came off the bench and a miracle happened, as I said earlier in the thread, it was the change to 4-4-2 with the introduction of all 3 subs that changed the game.   We are way better suited to 4-4-2 when Jack is not in the side, it's the only way to get width and create chances.

Hopefully yesterday's result will act as a fillip to the rest of the squad and enforce a belief in themselves that they can win without Jack Grealish.
Yes having Lateon Fillip should help us when Jack’s not around.

In fairness to Trez he was an important part of the team in the first half of the season when we were trailblazing.

Useless fact - Today's Villa game was the first time that all the starting players from both teams were born after the first Premier League game on 15th August 1992 !

Utterly, utterly, useless fact. Anyone would think that organised football didn't begin until the antichrist  Premier League was born. Every stat, like this one, is related to Premier League history these days. It's like Cambodia starting at year 1 during the reign of Pol Pot ( if anyone's old enough to remember that ?) They'd like us to forget that there's over a hundred years of football history before the PL, with many glorious games and great clubs, non of whom are included in their "Big Six". They go round with their little eraser rubbing out history and replacing it with their own meaningless drivel.

I feel better for that 😁

It's important we got that first one when we did (no shit) because they were looking confident and pinging the ball about with more ease when we went to four in the middle.

In fact, I don't think we created a chance during that period until Trez gobbled up a half chance at best to equalize.

Against better sides than Fulham 4-4-2 - especially from the start - won't work. But we do need to be flexible to switch it up.

I think both Trez and Ollie had chances, but missed their headers

Poor game of football - for 75 minutes we were awful

Trez will start against Liverpool not do a lot and then be replaced by El Ghazi (who will do okay) and then he will start the next game - neither of these players are consistent in their performances and they both should be gone in the summer, IF we can find a buyer?

Keinan did okay with his 4 touches of the ball but again once Wes is fit he will be gone.

And it worked because teams in relegation more are prone to capitulating. We know we were there.
