I suspect the ECL tickets will be pretty eye wateringly expensive with 6000 fewer on offer.

I wonder if qualification expedited the decision.

Have they seen an opportunity to cook the books? 

1. from the reduced supply and same (increased?) demand they can charge what they want for CL tickets and still sell out.  The average cost/ticket will be much higher.
2. The lost revenue from the reduced capacity can also be added to income for FFP purposes, so a new revenue stream that didn't previously exist.

People will pay it - I paid £90 for Juve game. There weren't (m)any spare seats.

As others said fans will think it may be a while (another season) until we qualify again. Who knows as we could qualify again for 2027/28 - it certainly didn't help our League form last season or 4 or 5 of those who qualified this season.

Wow, North Stand to be closed for all of next season to speed up its completion.
I guess they can take the hit on lost revenue as CL is looking likely next season.

As a claret member this is likely to make it difficult for me to get a ticket to a game next season, but I think that this is great news. The idea that these works should wait until the team has started to go backwards is daft.

Exactly this.  No brainer.

Won’t thatentail a redisgn and resubmission of the the plans so slowing down the process and therefore losing the benefit gained on time?

And the construction time will be a lot longer. The present scheme still makes sense. It was always very optimistic it could be done without shutting the stand.

I hope the current scheme's design isn't compromised by the structure of the old stand too much - columns in the wrong places / limits on capacity / longer MEPH route etc. 

You wouldn't choose those compromises unless there was good reason or a significant change elsewhere (CL qualification?)

I will do 20 games this season on top of 19 last season as a non-season ticket holder. I didn't bother with membership this year because it doesn't seem to make that much difference to buying tickets ad hoc. It's become routine for me again so I will really miss going to pretty much every game next season. Understand we need the additional capacity long term but it is a kick in the knackers.

Blimey, as a member that attends most home games this is a major bummer. Have been on the season ticket waiting list with virtually no movement for years now. Might have to sell a kidney for a GA plus season ticket, but I suspect even they’ll be like gold dust now.

I had been considering getting a membership next season, so I could get tickets for some games.

Wondering whether it will be impossible to get tickets with this development though?
