The Athletico Madrid model would be to moving to the Alexander Stadium though wouldn’t it? Their ground isn’t new, it’s a redeveloped ex athletics stadium.

Indeed but some of our fans think that it would be better to spent billions on a shiny new 60,000 seater at the Alexander stadium rather than spent 100s of millions making our current home 60,000 seater.

There isn't much logic to it beyond 'other clubs have done it' to which the retort should be those clubs didn't have what we have - Goodison and Highbury were impossible to redevelop and White Hart Lane wasn't anything special (and sort of was redeveloped if you think about it, or is at least on the same site)

Literally nobody thinks what you are suggesting. However, some fans will think differently to you on the matter of redevelopment/ relocation. By continuously reiterating the same argument on this thread, you are in danger of drowning-out the counter argument.

A lot of our supporters are entranced by the thought of something new and shiny, plus the belief that you 'have' to move to compete. It falls at the first bit of logical thinking behind the first question - where to?

I don’t think it’s a discussion worth having until there is a viable alternative location as we should not be moving for the sake of moving. A new site would have to offer something demonstratively better than what we already have. Part of what we already have is a pretty formidable history and connection to place, A new site would obviously have to be very special to outweigh this. However, I want Aston Villa to be ambitious in the same way that we were in the 19th century, and I think it would be unambitious to rule out the possibility of ever relocating.
